More on Icelander's enlightenment
    #9987433 -

I think one important thing someone who's got some enlightenment going on is that they believe the Universe does not care a lick about what they think or feel or their personal aspirations. That's all their personal business. There is evidence all around if you can get out of your protected bubble and see it. Death, disease, starvation, procreation, war, ignorance. And it's been going on now and forever on earth with all species (except maybe ignorance, we corner the market on that one). Now I'm pointing to the negative here because most of us posting in this culture are in a protective bubble and we can allow ourselves to think that human life, especially ours is somehow worth more or destined for more then the fly we just smacked against the window. The "enlightened" person knows this just ain't so.

As far as I know and can tell the Universe "want's" me to do one very special thing, PROCREATE! And that's all it "cares" about.

Some of us refuse to do this for personal reasons. :satansmoking: But the Universe doesn't "care" that we don't because the quota is filled and when it isn't anymore the human race will go the way of thousands and thousands of other species that are no longer here to entertain or bug us.

Three Questions:
What makes you think that the universe wants you to procreate?
What makes you think the universe cares about whether you procreate or not?
Is it you specifically that the universe wants to procreate or the human race in general?

duh All living beings are driven by some kind of sex urge. Without it we are not.

Now of course the universe doesn't "want" anything. It's just happening.

I think it might behoove you to reread my post.

You don't know that. You're saying it to be funny (which it is) or because it makes you feel good to believe it (which is also funny.)

 ie its up to us to give meaning to our lives. failure to recognise this is IMO probably the root cause of almost all depression and other poor mental health, other than that resulting from chemical imbalances. We have to take responsibilty!

Without the PRO.

The universe , although i think the term is ridiculous for it implies only one system ..
Cares very much about you personally.. just as much as it cares for the fly.
Failing to recognize the equality should not be  self-rewarded with pessimistic thoughts.
I dont kill insects. Never will..
I will agree we are much more spiritually ahead.. But that does not make us better..
Using comparisons like you did , can only imply your personal sense of unworthiness , and that attitude shall in turn be rewarded with precisely that , from those that see you as a fly , my friend.
If you can go down to a sub-atomic particle..
Imagine how higher up you can go.
If this "universe" wanted only more of itself.. it would be rather pointless..
If you have been given a message that you should have a child..
Perhaps a soul needs to be incarnated under your roof and under your guidance in order to perform a more helpful and creative task than yourself , cruising these boards saying that we need to breed.

Again .. without the PRO

We need to create. It brings variety.. Novelty..
It give us more to do and see in this endless cycle of basically doing nothing  but evolving and helping others to evolve.
It brings us closer.. to the creative spirit.

I know the universe cares about me..
You can talk to it .. ya know.
It cares about you.. and the fly you smacked on the wall.. and it was probably flying close to you so you would smack it and end its incarnation as an insect
There are no coincidences..
You universe.. god.. call it what you wish..
Is as big as it is small..
It is everywhere.. EVERYTHING.
There is no hierarchy.
And it certainly is not sterile and cold as you propose.

[En]lighten up

Us being tiny sparks of the universe, it could be said that the universe cannot ask anything of you anymore than you ask yourself, or others ask you.

Example:  Dad wants you to take out the trash.  He will force you if he has to.  You end up doing it. The experience has happened in such a way that a will (not exactly you own, but not separate either) has actually forced you to do something.  This will is a spark of the universe, and therefore, at least a spark of the universe has wanted something out of you.  So it cannot be entirely true that the universe at large does not want you to do something, because a part of it has, and any part of it shall always be connected for all of eternity.

Another example would be your own will to do something.  You, being a manifestation of the blueprint for life in this universe, are fully a part of it.  You will always be fully connected (at least for your time on this planet), and will never, ever, be disconnected and separate from it's (the universes) inner workings/mechanisms.  If you are a tiny extension of the universe itself, and you have a will to do something, it would be worth noting that at least a part of the universe does want something/for you beyond procreation.

Doubt that makes much sense to some of you... but to say that the universe doesn't want anything from you cannot be entirely true, if you, yourself, wants something.

This is also why I try not to kill bugs...  At least some aspect of the amazing universe (ginseng1) cares for their little lives.

Please, go easy on me. :sun:
