Yes shroomerites, it is mighty hard to believe. You have oft heard me say there is no objective difference between religious believers and non-believers as far as real-world measurements go. A new study says differently!

A recent study (by the Barnes Group? - read in the paper in the auto shop and did not get the exact reference) of some 5400 families revealed that the group most likely to get divorced was:

#1 Jews
#2 born-again Christians
#3 mainstream Christians
#4 other religious groups
#5 atheists/agnostics

Interesting is how the religious groups believe in the sanctity of marriage (lip service anyhow) and the take AN OATH BEFORE GOD to stay partnered for life are more likely to abandon their promise than non-believers.

My guess is that the religious marriages have greater fallout over dogmatic interpretation and are more judgemental of the sins of their partner than the non-religious unions.

One of my devout Christian friends that got a divorce (forced upon her by her husband, she fought it tooth and nail) said that the reason they got married in the first place was because they wanted to have sex and both of them had been taught that premarital sex was a sin.

Never believe anything you read in a newspaper without checking the sources.

The study is flawed.

There are many objective differences between 'believers' and 'non-believers' so your premise was flawed from the start.

Fact: Most believers are not college educated or stated another way the higher level of education you receive the less likely it is that you will be a believer. Makes sense, doesn't it?

The next time you decided to go awol let someone know if possible. Unexcused absences will affect your grade.

So... do another survey... cross-reference the study with educational level...

It's not that hard. Either way, my money's on the non-believers.

The facts say differently. And please don't read more into my post than I have written. I am not saying believers are dumb but I am saying that public education has an indoctrination system that either helps people to out-think their primitive ideas about religion or strips them of their belief system by substituting another in its place depending on your point of view. When I get the chance maybe I'll look up a few stats. In any event this phrase, "Surveys are faulty in general, and facts are not decided with probabilities.", makes it abundantly clear that your mind is made up and no evidence can convince you. When I encounter that I usually don't try to offer evidence as it makes no difference. I don't argue just to see my words in print.

Ok, here's a cute joke.

These two guys decided to skip their English final in high school.  The problem was their teacher had told everyone that there were no make-up tests available for those that missed taking it.  So the guys concocted the perfect alibi.  They raced into class just at the end all covered in grease and told the teacher that they rode to school together and the car had a flat tire.  They begged the teacher to take a make-up test.  The teacher relented and told them they could take one tomorrow.  So these two genius' went home and crammed their brains out studying.

The next day came and the teacher passed out the test.  It only had one question on it.

Which tire? :wink:
