I don't want to think about it.  It's a waste of time to me. Even if all the lies and deceit are true and exposed the majority of humanity won't act for various reasons. For me it's like continuing to look for evidence that you have been ignoring for years.

It might be much more beneficial to take a few days off an play hooky.

This is a very good point. Building a specific case, while fascinating, is a waste of time - what would would the judgment "guilty" do for us that we shouldn't do anyway?

I enjoyed the Zeitgeist films, but the conspiratorial claims are distractions - far more interesting is the answer to what we should do, which is hinted at with the brief discussions of spirituality and, in Addendum, the vision of a better society.

Exactly.

Anyone who has devoted them-self to the belief that the government told us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about 9/11 is an idiot.

Anyone who has devoted them-self to the belief that the conspiracy theorists have uncovered the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about 9/11 is an idiot.

Regarding the first film, I am a little skeptical about the 9/11 theories. But I do still think there was some shady shit involved, and maybe this will become clearer in decades to come. I think there are a lot of things that are interconnected, and it is foolish for us to think we know the connections between everything. I agree with with the religion part, and I've even heard that there is no archaeological evidence that Jews were in Egypt.

As to the second, I think it is sad how materialistic society has come. I personally don't agree with capitalism, as I have lived in some VERY poor countries and seen some gnarly shit that was what I feel the result of capitalism. Our way of life is not sustainable, and it will always mean there are haves and have-nots, which in my mind is not a property of a just and good society. I believe people are happiest when they feel they are equal to those around them (an example being the status of women rising), and we should try to find a way for people to be equal globally. I really don't like how we are finding ways to extend life past 80 when there are countries in Africa with a life expectancy of 40.

The problem with Zeitgeist is it takes some truths, mixes in its own ideas and puts them off as truths.

However the original Zeitgeist is 3 parts, religion, banking and 9/11.

If you critically review each, the religious one has parts that are true, and some that are speculation. However some of the most important key points like that Jesus was an old idea on the founding of Christianity is not much in doubt.

The banking part while obviously assumes a lot does bring to the table what a monetary system controlled privately could corrupt and inevitably end up as a failure for mankind. Some great claims are made, but ultimately what addendum confronts this system is flawed and eventuality is that it cannot sustain in a world based on that system.

The 9/11 part, is incredibly flawed. Its badly thought out, its been rebuked.

So you have points worth validity, mixed in with absurdedness.

Thats Zeitgeist, but at least Addendum does a bit of good work discussing the failure of monetary system and gives a glimpse of futurism and what 'can be' when science gets to that point.

As older systems have gone to history, its pretty evident the monetary/banking system will have to become obsolete in order for humanity to progress and thrive into the future.

But, as I've pointed out many times, those who design the "next monetary system" will be in a position to twist that system for their own benefit. In fact the possible benefits to rigging the system in your favor are so unbelievably gargantuan that any normal human will be tempted.

That is why I really wonder if our current system isn't a good compromise between functionality and greed. How do you know the next system won't be worse? You don't. The temptations inherent in designing a new monetary system will be incredible and could lead to a new system even more parasitic and unfair to the majority than our current one.

Well eventually scarcity becomes obsolete, where you reach a point where you can manufacture anything, shelter, food, and anything else can be easily created.

It changes the way we live based on technology and its way of removing our most enormous issues of our era. Its going to take time, no doubt, nor will it ever be utopia or anything near it... But it will be a system unreliant on monetary or selfish human goals, because such a system is incapable of sustainability in the future and we have to evolve into a better sustainable future.

Right now its about the best we've got, I personally think the best we've got is what Sweden, and many of the nordic countries use. Mix of socialistic policies with market capitalism and democracy.

The next system might be worse, depending on how we progress. Ideally we are only going to support a new system and ideology that makes sense to the current monetary system and one that is desirable to us.

No doubt we are looking at 100-500 years before we reach a more non scarcity type system, but the key is we need to realize monetary systems are flawed, only benefit a few while the vast majority of the world does not benefit.

In an ever increasing interconnectedness of the world culture, world economy, we are more aware that what we have used for the last few hundreds of years is not something that can survive.

The banking systems, the monetary systems, are doomed to a simple ending based on interest, inflation and greed. We will have to move beyond that, coinciding with technological advances like the nano age which will make the computer age seem like child's play.

There is great hope, we just have to survive the next 100 years.

Oh you mean a new system that isn't based on the economic problem?

Just think of all the grumpy old men with pensions invested in the stock market that will resist this... We need a revolution, comrade.

Its going to be a slow revolution, much like how there was a worker revolt towards industrialization in the early 1900's..

Ultimately its the massive change brought upon by the Nano-Age which will truly shock our world societies to the core. Some countries will deal with it better than others, the Nordic socialist countries might have a step up, but ultimately its changing not only how we live but the most important thing we need changed is how we think.
