The Satanic Bible

Ever since I was a child I have been facinated by the subtle differences in good and evil and I have been on a never ending quest to find examples of this. For me, real evil is never like a Disney movie type of evil...where the bad guy is always shown to be dark with lots of black and very one dimensional. To me, true evil has usually been kept with a thick layer of kind words and things that, at least on the surface, may even sound nice. Hitler was known to spout off entire speaches about hope. Milosevic and others like him are, especially towards the begining of their rise to fame, generally are not so outspoken to say things like "kill all Jews", etc. Another example of how true evil is hidden by a spin doctor is the widely used term for killing of an entire race of people based on that alone, their race...the term is "ethnic cleansing". To me, the term in and of it self sounds like a bath or some form of tiding up and certaintly doesn't conjure up images of children in ovens...that is until you get to know what the people who use the term mean by it.

Anyways, last night I was flipping through a copy of the Satanic Bible shaking my head and trying to find, once again, the nature of true evil.

Satanists believe the nature of fullfillment comes from satisfying one's Ego. Along with this Ego inflating comes the idea that your beliefs are fact, meaning everyone who does not see it your way is wrong. Satanists believe in judgement...the 4th Satanic truth reads "Satanists believe in extending kindness to those who deserve it, rather than wasting it on ingrates." In other words, they believe they are the ones who decide wether or not someone else is deserving or not...and furthermore those who are not are "ingrates".

All this reading only reaffirmed my orginal beliefs...

The essence of Truth, Light and God is by the elimination of one's own Ego and caring for others equally as much as you care for yourself, absolutely regardless of wether or not you agree with them or not. To judge someone else is to assume you are wise enough to judge...to assume that you are wise enough to judge is arrogant, to be arrogant is to feed your Ego a rather sizeable portion and to feed your own Ego is to be selfish and to be selfish is to be evil. Now, having opinions, or judgements, is one thing but to have them to the point of extending it to be true to all other forms of life wether they believe them or not is quite another thing, and I believe to be another form of Ego. Opinions are things that are stronger than impression and weaker then proof. Opinions are best kept that way, do not force opinions on others.

The essence of Darkness and Evil is by the feeding of one's Ego...by the satisfaction of putting yourself ahead of others in thoughts and actions.

And to say something I have said before...just because you eliminate your Ego DOES NOT mean that you do not take pride in what you accomplish. Pride becomes a sin only when it is forced onto others.

Sounds so simple...now the hard part...applying it to life!

Once again, this is only my opinion...

"ego" is a useful tool (or a handy "fiction" perhaps )
but
careful observation seems to reveal
that it is not everything that one is
and not everthing that is
and looking closely enough
one may be able to know
that the boundary between
"self" and "other"
may in fact be an illusion
and
here we are...
one need not destroy the ego
merely confronting the sense of self
and realizing
that this "self"
is not all that it claims to be
may be sufficient
to allow one to
begin to move through the universe
in bare feet...

Instead, one must confront it in the light and transcend it

There is nothing wrong with having an ego. Those with weak egos feel a need to "feed" their egos, they are the problem. A truly strong and self confident individual will have no need to dominate others and no urge to build his pride. An individual with a fully formed ego has knowledge of his place in the universe and accepts what is.

Great post. Its true. Real evil is charming and has charisma. Real evil can convince and persuade with its charm. Lead with its charisma. Evil can truthfully lie looking you straight in the eye with complete honesty because the one who is evil believes his own lies.
My opinion on what evil is at least.

Well said, but I desperately need some clarification here... Just what exactly is the meaning of AND? Like in: "the elimination of one's ego AND caring for others [is the way to go]". Isn't one of them the consequence of the other (if so, which direction?) Or do you think they go simultaneous?

Man, I think people are lately looking way to negative at the ego.
The ego can be very useful, and entertaining to use.

Rejecting your ego is just as stupid as worshipping it.

Perhaps we should check our definintions of Ego because my definition doesn't seem to be meshing with everyone else's. I think an Ego is EVERYTHING you put between you and your perception of yourself. So by shattering this, you see just who you are and just who others are. To me, it has nothing to do with denying yourself, but it has everything to do with realizing yourself. Know what I mean?
