lsd is the universe giving man a taste of itself in a time of great materialism. we are so materialistic in nature that god appearing in the form of lsd is just what we need. a "thing" to show us the way

I guess I'm the only one that fully agrees with the OP. I think he's seriously right. LSD is very likely a means to communicate God to a society that may have a hard time seeing God any other way.

The idea of god or greater meaning is basically the ultimate conspiracy, isn't it? I personally find it a little too ironic that this kind of communion seems to be part of its own conspiracy on a social level.

And if God doesn't exist, where does that leave LSD? Does it just vanish or does it make LSD a chemical that alters an animal's perception...

I don't think we're truly a materialistic society. If we were, chances are we would show much more respect towards matter and materials.

I think this is just giving the substance too much credit, and your own brain, mind and human expeience far too little. LSD might be a doorway to spiritual experiences, but it doesn't produce them in the same way alcohol makes you drunk. It's your mind and your reaction to the world around you doing the work. You just become aware of the transfer of energies between your brain and the world, and this leads some people to experiences of God. To say God is actually contained in a molecule is redundant. LSD is a good solution to materialism for some people, though. You're not exactly going to have a mind blowing trip then decide you need a £500 jacket to be fashionable. Unless you're an eejit, that is.

I generally agree with that, and I dont think anybody here really thinks LSD IS God. I think a good way to describe it in this way is as a "spiritual catalyst". I mean if anything is sacred...
