The Fireworks_God Challenge

I would like to first offer my apologies to the fabled Swami for ripping off his franchise; however, what I'm about to challenge seems a better way of overcoming personal predjuices that act as a fault, than, for comparison, LikwidDrawp's "eat 50g of mushrooms and take a serious fucking look at what you've become" method.

My challenge goes out to anyone who has an emotional or ideaological hangup that prevents them from seeing some Simple Truths in life. It will hopefully allow one to temporarily "escape" their emotional ties to the ground, offering a fresh change of perspective that will allow them to examine another's words from an unbiased point of view. It will also allow them to examine their own words from this uncorrupted point of view, granting them ability to find faults in their own programming, so they can start on the road to a higher state of consciousness, where such things as anger, hatred, and security issues will no longer cloud your perceptions. Doing so will free up more energy in your life, allow you to see all issues in a clearer light, and open the path to Enlightenment.

I challenge anyone afflicted by the faults described above to give up your sense of identiy, to not let anything challenge your beliefs or ideas held, to forget that you even exist at all. What I challenge is entirely possible (some work, however, may be required to do this, as some people are more rooted in their self image than others). Once you have cleared yourself of all of this, then read the words someone is saying, and let the meanings they are expressing s-o-a-k innnnn. No strain is even required, as long as your identity of self has been released (no more examing words to find an immediate threat to your pride, no more comparing their thoughts to your own experiences to prove if they are right or not, and no more "missing the point").
If you sucessfully take this challenge, you will find that you are no longer speaking in generalizations, you are no longer ignoring anyone, and that you are no longer needlessy proving yourself right, whether or not you actually are. You are free of negative and pointless programs constantly that previously ran through your head without contest or even recognition of the fact that they are running.
Now, as you have experienced the loss of an identity that truly does not need to be "defended" any longer, and experienced what it is like to truly hear what someone else is trying to say, you will find your self more susceptible to Truths so simple and obvious that one does not need to strain to receive, but one could never realize before. And that much energy is free to be used on something even more fufilling and constructive. Good luck, fellow travelers.

Actually, I was sort of provoked by that racism post that was going around.. not that the challenge was directed at MALACHI or anything. Once I was started on it, though, I realized it should have more of a universal appeal, rather than applying the thought to what was going on at the time. Oh, and glad you liked it.

Wrong, the most honest thing we can do is not wear a mask at all.

I also completely reject FWG's so called 'challenge'.

The only way to give up ones identity is to put a shotgun in ones mouth and pull the trigger.

Impossible to do.  We are organisms who adapt our behavior to our environment; every response we make is dependent upon the context of our surroundings.  There is no such thing as a "true" self because our self is defined by its interaction with the external world.

Now, certainly there may be masks that involve telling fewer lies than other masks, but one should still realize that one is putting on the truth-telling mask rather than pulling all masks off.

Well, it seems a bit awkward to be replying to support a thread I created six and a half years ago, since I didn't express myself then as I am accustomed to doing now. :grin:

Anyways, you say that you reject the "challenge", so you're implying that you have an emotional or ideological hang-up that is preventing you from seeing some simple truths in life?
'Cause the challenge was for those who do, and rejection is implying its pertaining to you in the first place... :smirk:

Moving forward, I'm not certain why you're talking about "giving up one's identity".
Its completely and entirely impertinent; your dramatic shotgun reference is a non-sequitur. 

I clearly referred to relinquishing one's sense of identity, as a means of overcoming the cited dilemmas that would be hypothetically plaguing the person being challenged.

One's conception of one's identity can certainly be changed, altered, transformed, disconsidered, set aside. A conduit that need not be thought through.
Its a matter of how one wishes to define themselves, how one wishes to tell themselves who they are.

Never mentioned giving up identity in and of itself. :shrug:

Well, hangups is a nice little way of saying that one stands on a principle. I have hangups about murder, theft, etc and seeing those actions committed will certainly provoke an emotional response in myself, but I have of desire to change that principle or the emotion attached to it. On that basis I reject your so called 'challenge'.

As for relinquishing ones 'sense' of identity, where do you suppose this sense of identity comes from?
