"Conversations With God" messageboard
    #2204061 - 12/27/03 03:20 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Yes! I just found a "Conversations With God" messageboard!

It's pretty similar to this board. Looks like Neale Donald Walsh visits the board every once and a while as well. His last visit was October 5th apparently. It would be most excellent to converse with him.

I registered today, and made my first thread. It's about my disillusionment about CWG ever since "The New Revelations" came out. I still believe that the first five books are the most important books in the history of philosophy, but that new book appears to me to be nothing but a money making scheme unless someone on that board can convince me otherwise.

BTW, does anyone remember the post in which some poster(I forget his name) pointed out that "God" in CWG makes an incorrect Star Trek reference??

I can't find it with this new search engine.

Thanks man. How did you find that?

I typed in "Star Trek" in S & P and got all kinds of posts that made no mention of it.

Did you include the " "'s?  That's what I did.

Been reading the CWG board, you make some good points, Center  It'll be interesting to see what they make of the star trek thing.

So you entered "Star Trek" in quotes in the search engine? Why woud you need to include quotes??

What points other than the Star Trek thing(which was Nomad's) that I made did you like?

The quotes make it search for the entire phrase, rather than just "star" and "trek". I think..

I have said this all along. ALL of the books are about making Walsch money.

I still believe that the first five books are the most important books in the history of philosophy,
They are entertaining and thought-provoking in parts, but as per usual; I have yet to meet anyone that can command the kind of creative power that he talks about. In other words, it is all made-up fantasy.

What kind of creative power are you talking about? "God" is just basically saying that all people have the creative power to make themselves happy. I know lots of people who are happy.

There was a show in So. Cal. called "The Jesus Christ Show" on KFI 640 AM every Saturday morning. I don't know if it still runs. The guy was very intelligent and consistent. He answered the questions as if he truly was Jesus.

He, of course, received a lot of bullschitt calls, but he also received simply skeptical calls, and legitimate calls. The legitimate calls were people who sounded like they knew he wasn't really Jesus, but they were looking for answers.

This is kind of like Swami's "Message and Messenger" thread.

Maybe the guy isn't really Jesus, but he sounds like Jesus and he made people feel better. So what if he probably goes home afterwards and gets drunk?

You don't know that.
Oh, I am sorry. The CWG books are like the Star Trek movies. The odd-numbered ones are from God and the even-numbered ones are about making money.

What kind of creative power are you talking about? "God" is just basically saying that all people have the creative power to make themselves happy.
Come on LF. It is a little more specific than that. Go back and reread #1. He says that you cannot have ANYTHING that you want, by not wanting it. I have challenged many CWG afficianados to manifest something spectacular that they have always "not" wanted and we all know the inevitable non-result...

I know lots of people who are happy.
And I bet they did it WITHOUT making Walsch rich!

Why must you be like that?

I assume you mean he said you can have anything you want by not wanting it. How do you know you can't? Just because the people who you've challenged couldn't conjure up whatever it was that they tried doesn't mean it can't be done. He's probably right. You can have anything you want. You just have to be damn near God-like to make it happen at will.

Why do fish swim? Why does LearyFan swallow tripe whole?

He's probably right. You can have anything you want. You just have to be damn near God-like to make it happen at will.
So although this book was targeted to millions, it's audience is really only those God-like ones who wouldn't need a book?

That's just a straight up flame for absolutely no reason. I don't suppose anything will be done about it though.

"He's probably right. You can have anything you want. You just have to be damn near God-like to make it happen at will."

He's probably right? That by not wanting something you'll get it?

What's the basis for this? Anything? Well, yeah, I guess I'll concede that if you were "god like" you could make things happen at will. Duh. But is anyone, or has anyone ever been God like?

Also, about this guy making money vs. spreading a positive spiritual message. Look at the CWG website. There are videos you can pay for. There are books you can pay for. There are online courses you can pay for. Spiritual retreats you can pay for.

I'm curious about your declaration that these are some of the most important philosophical books of all time, what sets them apart from the other new age authors. There are dozens, if not hundreds of authors writing books that basically tell you to harness a "positive energy". I don't think a book that tells you how to live a productive life spiritually makes for a very important philosophical book. A successful philosophical book raises new questions, explores strange and new possibilities. It doesn't have to have a positive message, or to be motivational. If that's what you're looking for, maybe Tony Robbins is for you.

Have you read Dianetics?

CWG is about MUCH MUCH more than just having positive energy. It lays down a very realistic paradigm of what the world is all about. It's more solid than anything i've ever read. You won't buy it, but the main points I get from it are......

1) We are all one
2) There is no "right" or "wrong"
3) There is no "hell" or "Satan"

It's all about debunking the idea that God would ever judge and/or punish us.

The fact that he sells books, cd's, tapes and seminars has absolutely nothing do with his credibility. It takes money to survive and to continue to spread the message. I felt that the newest book "The New Revelations" was questionable, but you don't need to be broke in order to be genuine.
