Huehue's (OK - Kentucky's) Creation Museum
    #6978436 -

Spokesperson: "Those who believe God created the heavens and the Earth in six days about 6,000 years ago are finally getting their views represented."

Man, it is about friggin time that the Christian viewpoint got represented in the U.S. I can't think of ANY group who has been silenced more on the planet today. ~ Stupendous Man

Represented by what? An empty warehouse of all the evidence for creation? "Museum". :smirk:

Yeah, I swear that I am going to move up out of this place as soon as all the kids are out of school. In the last 10 years the social climate has become really hostile. These backwoods Christian types have been getting more ridiculous and they incorporate lots of hate into their diatribe. When I recently asked a very "religious" man what this Bible quote meant:

Quote:
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you."

I was told that this was NOT promoting pacifism, and it was only the attitude one expresses towards family and community. He explained that towards outsiders and foreigners one had no such obligation. He then took great pains to show me quotes from the Bible that he said condoned war and (IMO) murder. I was then helped to understand how the war in Iraq is a Christian holy war, and that it was our nations duty to God to "finish" it.

I try to display compassion towards all as much as possible, and I have tried hard to not attack the beliefs of these types, but this museum is a monument to human stupidity at it's worst.

Quote:
Do what you wanna
Do what you will
Just don't mess up
Your neighbor's thrill
And when you pay the bill
Kindly leave a little tip
And help the next poor sucker
On his one way trip... --Frank Zappa

They have nowhere near the influence they once had, take solace in that. These are the death knells of the passing Age of Fear.

I think this perception may be based on region specific observations. In this area fear based religion is embedded very deeply. I went out west to see Ice last year and I was very pleased at the relaxed atmosphere (in comparison) that I found there.

Laugh all you want. It's already too late for changing the factor to which you refer. I just don't want to create instability in the last years of my daughter's schooling. I feel that children need a stable environment to grow, AND my children are of the self educating sort in that they read. They are also NOT Christians in any way shape and form. It also must be noted that the schools at least are still secularly oriented.

...and OrgoneConclusion is promoting the idea that I built this fucking museum in some way... I guess I get blamed when things go lax on my watch here in Kentucky.

Thanks, I like to laugh.

I feel that children need a stable environment to grow,

Stability is not a matter of placement but mindset. I've met some amazing and adaptable kids that almost lived on the road. Really, it's the fact that you aren't ready to go yourself.

Your correct. I am using that point as the point where I start looking. I am not quite ready to leave yet for professional reasons.

Better Kentucky than Tennessee!

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

There is hope for Tennessee, however, because psychedelic mushrooms grow wild there...poor Kentucky has none :frown:

Kentucky Derby mushroom, Panaeolus subbalteatus.
Grows on hardwoods in the fall, Gymnopilus Spectabilis.
Grows on wood chips, in the fall, in wet locations, Gymnopilus luteofoleus?
Grows in Appalachian valleys in the spring, bluefoot?

Yeah, I get scads of subbalteatus in my yard every year, but their active content is so low that you would have to eat 20 grams of dry material to get any results. I have heard tell of the Big Laughing Gyms, but I have never seen one in all of my years of running the woods here. These shrooms are so second rate or hard to find that I do not consider them...now, Tennessee has cubes...

I understand that the weed that grows here is second to none, but I quit that over 20 years ago...I just don't like to smoke things, and eating it gives inconsistent results based on many factors. I think the rednecks around here combine it with alcohol before church to get their violence up....
