Auweia:

I found a patch with a bunch that were similar to the ones on the right side of this photo. They looked like cyans but had caps that were split like petals. They were all still pretty imature. Are these cyans or are they the friscosas?

Only picked one that was a normal cyan size, blued like crazy on the cap, and had the typical dark purple spore print. I'll try to post photos today or tomorrow.

your bay area capabilities are amazing especially for no car!

Actually, If I had a bike, that's how i would go picking! Walking is too slow, you cannot cover as much area, but in a car, you're going too fast to see anything.

Our own local variation on the old euphemism (riding Hofmann's bicycle): riding Auweia's bike! Happy hongos everyone! How wonderful it is to live here...

Here's some from my lunchtime foray in an SF park. Since groundskeeper Willy pesticided my prime patches (in an apparent attempt to kill weeds in the thick natural grasses), I had to start scrounging for more.

Luckily some of my patches were under bushes outside the pesticide application zone.

Checking my first patch... damn they're all black, is frost usually the cause of this, or did they just go rotten before they're time?

A few young guys, rising from the ashes

I found this new patch last week. These are the mushrooms I was referring too Auweia. They look like Cyanacens but the caps are "petaled". What am I looking at here? I'll have to literally go into the bushes to pick these so I want to know what you think before I go for them...

These ones towards the back have also gone completely black...

Now to little patch number 3. These I KNOW are cyans

picked this one on the walk home in some "red" woodchips. This I KNOW is a throwaway look-alike

IT'S REALLY DAMN WET OUT THERE.

Here's a few cool non-actives

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

They were found on the south side of town next to a building under some landscaped shrubberies...

So are these new ones mature when they're caps flip up (like the photo below)? These are going to be a pain in the ass to pick, since I'll have to go over a 4' wall and literally into the bushes to get most of them. And I have long arms.

yeah, some types don't get much bigger than that..maybe a little bigger, but not like some varieties.. I think they go black not because of any frost, but because it dried out so long and they died, and then it started raining. The black ones are heavy with bacteria. Not good to eat

I think the ones that split open like that are just one of several varieties. Not quite as common as some others

Day off finds [Re: tahoe]
    #6366126 -

Had the day off so I went to a spot that I saw some popping up at.

The first ones were under some bushes and I noticed a lot of pins coming up. The other two were across the street from them just out in the open.
