not if hell begins in your mind

It would be stupid of god to make a place that is just unpleasant and hope that it bothers humans. The wise thing to do would be to create hell in human minds so that they can't get used to it

dude, nothing exists, we just imagine it all to exist, and imagination creates reality, so to an extent heaven and hell exist, but i think they are more or less peoples internal views of the world rather than a place your soul goes once your body dies

just remember nothing exists, so just have fun in this world we have imagined for ourselves  :laugh:

Heaven and Hell make perfect sense. It keeps the Christians from getting out of line....I'm glad that I ain't one.

you're right assuming heaven and hell were physical places but they are not physical places.

if the kindgom of heaven is within us and it is outside us, what else could it be other than a state of consciousness? both heaven and hell are states of consciousness and both exist.

the thing that baffles me most is how people can still believe in an outer kindgom when jesus clearly stated the kingdom was within 2000 years ago. get with the times people.

it's verse 3 of the gospel of thomas which i don't think was included in the bible (the bible only contains 4 gospels).

however, in the bible jesus also said the same thing:


20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."

Luke 17:20.

the gospel of thomas was left out, much like the book of enoch and many of the other sea scrolls.

The major problem I have with the heaven idea is that it is this place where everything you want, you experience. Hypothetically speaking, my heaven is sitting in a comfterable chair with a stage in front of me and the rest of eternity, live bands come out (phish, hendrix, grateful dead, zepplinn, umphrey's, cheese, hookah, keller, galactic, panic, etc) and play endless shows for me. Now this is my heaven, however my neighbor feels that heaven is eating a buffet for the rest of eternity. Isn't it irrational to think that there is a place where it is ever changing to each and every one of it's members needs. It just defies all common sense and logic I can't comprehend it.

what defies common sense is the belief in an outer kingdom. jesus said the kingdom was within so why are you picturing it without? it's not eating or listening to music that you or your neighbor really like, it's the enjoyable feelings you get from doing those things. those feelings are within you.

a belief in heaven and hell is just an extreme manifestation in a belief in duality, which itself is a delusion.

Hell is a state of conciousness characterized by suffering and negativity. I see no great appeal in residing in such a state, so i dont.
