Im afraid to live in a big city because of the potential for war and terror
    #4398016 -

It's true, i have a serious problem with big cities. i currently live outside of Chicago about a 20 mile drive from downtown and it bothers me. i personally believe that in some point in my life time that chicago will suffer a massive attack, be it from war or terror. also the threat of a pandemic while living in a highly (over) populated area bothers me as well.

does anyone else have this problem/view on things? it just seems that its a very bad idea to live in a largely popoulated city in america if you want to live out your natural lifespan.

every 30 years in the past there has been a flu pandemic, currently we have gone 40 years without one....

I've come to accept terrorism.

Regardless of how high we raise our terror levels or however cautious we are, terrorist will kill us if they want.

Don't be scared, that's what our government and the terrorists both want.

How many people got flu shots 40 years ago?  Perhaps our health care improved since then?

don't be scared man. plus you live 20 miles away from the city.

when you think about it, nobody was scared of terrorist attacks before 9-11. and now all of a sudden we're getting terrorist alerts all over the country. the american people have become frightened and paranoid, and something tells me that some powerful people in the government want it to be that way.

not really when you consider the normal wind patterns on ground level and the dynamics of fallout, and the spread of disease

STOP LIVING IN FEAR!

Not only is it what the terrorists want, it's what our government wants as well.

Fear breeds hatred and anxiety/stress. Don't let it consume you.

quite honestly there is reason to be afriad, this "were not afraid" thing is just like walking with your eyes closed towards a cliff imho.

and its not just the terrorists, but the wars and the posibility of plagues...

big cities now a days have some pretty fucking big targets painted over them not only by our enimies but by nature as well.

its just not a good idea. sometimes you should be afriad

How much control do you have over a nuclear bomb hitting your house?

I would say very little, if any.

Enjoy your life and don't fret over the things that are beyond your control.

You're gonna die anyway. My brains should been all over the road 13 years ago, but hey, look at me, somehow the bistate bus left me intact, lol. I love adrenaline, prolly marines after college, heh. Maybe it's just me, but I don't mind dying if I don't know about it.

I agree Signo and Redstorm.

I mean, obviously there are some cities, like Gazza City, that I wouldn't want to live in because of violence, and others, like Hong Kong, that I'd avoid because of weird epidemics. But the chances of death by either of these things in most major cities is approaching zero. If we want to live in the modern society we've made, many of us will to have to suck it up and face city life.
