Hitler attacked first. In this case, the US is throwing the first punch.

Oh really? I've heard this before, but I don't see any basis for it. I've heard "you're just jealous" as an argument many times throughout my life, and every time it's been when someone refuses to aknowledge their own faults, the american foreign policy being no exception. See any "Out of control teens" episode of Jenny Jones for good examples of this.

The truth is, the US has done many things to piss these people off. They don't all want to live like us, but they are being forced to. Right or wrong, their hatred for the US stems from a lot more than just jealousy.

"The "don't get the crazy Arabs mad" argument rests upon the premise that their fury arises in reaction to some action or policy of the United States, rather than as an expression of their own self-destructive insanity and suicidal evil."

Oh, okay, so arabs are just self destructive, insane, suicial, and evil. You know, what we SHOULD be doing is throwing them all in cages and shipping them off to zoos. These half-human beasts have no place running countries of their own!

This kind of veiled racist argument is really disgusting.

This article isn't that great really, I've seen much better points come out of many of the people on these boards, and many of the arguments this guy uses are shoddy.

For instance, it's easy to tear apart a statement like :
"If we go ahead with war against Iraq, it will represent a betrayal of our values and mark the first time in history that we attacked another country that never attacked us first."

But if he had actually used the real argument:
"If we go ahead with war against Iraq, it will represent a betrayal of our values and mark the first time in history that we attacked another country that never directly attacked or threatened us or anyone else."
