One Carl Sagan idea I can't argue against
    #4337110 -

he said, and he isn't the only one of course, but he's the one I remember first hearing saying it is whether the universe is full of intelligence or if humanity on Earth is all alone in the cosmos, either way our intelligence is really amazing and should be inspiration enough to put all these stupid wars and destructive economics behind us and go onwards to better ways of living.  he said it more eloquently of course but i'm sure he's right.

It is the only thing that makes sense to me when it comes to these issues. We all die. We are here to live before that death. War is a sickness born of the human who can't handle his intelligence.

well, apparently not. peace requires more than just intelligence.

Ah, but the  universe is also insatiably hungry. It ate Carl Sagan, it eats
philosophy, it eats and eats and eats and sometimes things get crushed between its teeth. It eats itself, and never gets tired of the feast.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050626/ap_on_sc/comet_buster_3

The Deep Impact spacecraft shares the same name as a 1998 Hollywood disaster movie about a comet headed straight for Earth. NASA says that the names for the space mission and blockbuster movie were arrived at independently around the same time and by pure coincidence.

"Pure coincidence" indeed!

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda
