Ochra. This was the last flush. The cake was still pretty full and heavy so I thought it had enough for 1 more decent flush, but it kept putting out single aborts every few days, so I put it to the side and forgot about it for, idk, a week or more, and I check it today and this is what it produced. The cake also shrank by like 50% and looks spent now.

Anyone else a bit mystified how grains look so plain after shaking a fully colonised jar?

I watched a video on YouTube where some dude said to always store your LC syringes vertically so the  inevitable air bubble is on the top by the plunger and not along the side. Less air contact for the mycelium. Idk how true that is but it seemed logical lol

I've tryed this once and somehow caused myselium to colonize through the syringe tip causing obvious clogging (only tryed once so could been a unique problem nor often encountered

Got a weird tidal wave pheno that popped up (in a clone grow, not MSS), unsure what to think.

Here's the original flush 1 for this small container. You can see a couple clearly more squat and wavy ones in the back corner, and another spot at another edge. I noticed that they were odd and decided to chop down everything BUT those, so they could ride and I could get some clean prints without worrying about other spores.

4 days later and uhhhh.... what the fuck? If I didn't know better, I'd say those are 100% ochras based on cap presentation. That's quintessential ochra cap. But squatter and wavier than usual.

Here's the more interesting bit: these are in this lil tub because I split the grain jar up to do a novelty grow, and this lil tray is the leftovers. The novelty grow in its own container is 100% normal TW across the board. Looks identical to the ones I chopped down. Since these squat things are only on the corners/edges, it's making me wonder if I failed to clean this tub well and some other spores or smth got in.

IDK. Pretty sure I took some swabs, but definitely took a tissue sample. Wish I could have done more but was in a hurry for work.

Speaking of ochra, two new cultures from trade that got sent to bulk today. Some real healthy boiz.

:munchdance:

Cool reishis! So you're letting air to em to get em to conk- are you hoping they'll look like a lollipop on a stick deal?

@ Rasmo, didn't you check the gill connection to the stipe for a further clue?

Check under the gills where they connect to the stem: do they continue onto the stem? That’s an ochra trait and IME the easiest way to visually analyze them

I noticed this pics details after posting my rsponse to Rasmodius, Huskies. What do you think? I see there there is one intact fruit split down the middle in the lower left corner. There appears to be a downward continuation of the gills, could be subdecurrant although the angle of the pic could be fooling my eye.

Stump in the upper left and lower right look to have gills on, but hard to say from that whether thats technically cap remnants, or gills clinging to the stem in a downward way.

I’d say gills. The fruits on the right don’t have the stem gills.
