I must admit that my kids are my purpose in life, and it was a real relief to have a biological purpose, some function or goal, instead of being just a dead-end.

That was a convo on discord, wasn't it? Damn I still miss the discord groups. And our absolutely brilliant Mr. Jong. Social skills of a peanut with more cognitive power than a chess championship.

Having just launched my only (18y son), and dropped him off at college last month, I can truly echo what Churp said about purpose.  I miss him so much, AND the thrill of watching him spread his wings and find his path is truly rewarding and beautiful.

My partner and I are both in our mid 30s and have a lot of loner tendencies,  but also need some level of regular social interaction, and boy is it hard to find a good balance. I feel pretty alienated a good chunk of the time.
