Got an Apollo shoebox going and my first successful go at semps. They’re tiny and some of the caps are turning up already, but I hope they’ll keep growing.

Yep. I've harvested more mush from green tubs than I'd care to admit to  The molds are everywhere all the time anyway.

Pic tax: Still gotta eat some of these from last week... still got more in their that I ran 2 days ago

Nice dehydrator! I’m looking to upgrade mine to a larger one. I’ve grown out of it jerky wise & shroom wise. What unit are you running there?

This guy here.

Got it from a buddy at work who was making jerky but was scaling back so he didn't need 2 anymore. I've got some beefs with it though.

First being the racks are spaced fairly close together so if you put big fruits in whole you've got to leave gaps between the racks second that because they're close you have to be sure to load it with the caps away from the edges or they get mangled when you slide the tray in.

Other than that it's a beast. I wanna do some jerky with it but I'm perpetually strapped for time it seems

Looks like a nice unit. The one I have now is small but I can fit 5 pounds of wet jerky in it on the 6 plastic racks it has. It is a Gourmia unit. I like the plastic racks because they clean up EASILY after sticky jerky and the jerky don’t really stick to them. However, it is tough when
I have more than 5 pounds of jerky or mushrooms be fruiting like crazy.

Also my racks are close together as well. I think that is common for all dehydrators. I have to flatten caps or cut them off when the fruits are big. It is what it is.

I’ve been looking at a few recipes n the Zon but also Cabela’s commercial 80 is on my list. It’s a beast and a real workhorse. Plus I always have Cabela’s club $ to spend from having their card.

Can you still harvest and eat the mushrooms that are growing around the green?

Absolutely, I harvested those directly around the green that weren’t effected and am leaving the rest to mature so I know which ones develop best for cloning, between now and then I’ll harvest anything the green is about to touch (:

See. I don’t want to accept that outcome. I truly want a dehydrator where I don’t have to squish or cut my hard work.

These are about the same age as my registration date.
Every couple of months, I'll give them a flood.
It made them swell so much last time that the scoria actually did cause a little bit of damage to upper right.
The one on the bottom with a clearly different soil composition was doing so well I haven't really wanted to trade it out yet.

Found this glass at a thrift shop and thought I’d put some mushrooms in it. I think I got too many pins for them to get as big as I hoped, but we will see.

Then the answer is to get one that has enough shelves of a larger size, that you can remove a shelf here and there to make room as needed. That is one of the reasons I  looking at the Cabela’s commercial units. They are large, affordable and an excellent product. Look at their 80 liter commercial 12 shelf unit. It’s $349. If you buy it on a club Monday sale you can get 10% off. Plus it’s free shipping. If that’s not your thing, then check out their 10 shelf Pro unit. Still a great dehydrator and it’s only $199 and has plastic non stick shelves. The Cabela’s shelves have a lot of square inch space.

I haven't used the Cabela's, but I've had this unit for about two years, used for mushrooms, veg, and various forms of jerky and it's been a champ. That's a 10-shelf-er, but they also make a 5- and a 7- shelf version that seems identical if you don't need the extra space. I think I originally got it because it was top rated by spruce eats or someplace like that. It's also quiet enough that when it's running in my basement bar/kitchen, about 15' away from where I sit to watch TV, I can't even tell it's running unless I turn the TV off. Can recommend.
