I could go deeper into to the weeds with tax credit system collapse on this.
But my point stands on as a governing system, should you not care if another group is being screwed up because they voted for it.

Soy milk prices are ridiculous. Sixteen cents worth of beans, and they want $2.50 or more for a HALF gallon? How is it cheaper to feed soybeans to a cow and milk the cow?

President Donald Trump’s administration instructed federal agencies Wednesday night to prepare for mass layoffs if the government shuts down Oct. 1, after federal funding runs out.

The memo from the White House Office of Management and Budget directs agencies to consider firing employees working on any program that is not funded by another law, such as Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act enacted in July, and which does not align with the president’s priorities

well this should be amusing.

My friend took the DOGE early retirement and it’s been months without them taking any action on it. He’s down to his last paycheck and there’s apparently a huge backlog. This administration is completely incompetent. They fired all the people supposed to take care of employee transitions

All talk and no action

A comparison of political violence by left-wing, right-wing, and Islamist extremists in the United States and the world: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9335287/

"When compared to individuals associated with a right-wing ideology, individuals adhering to a left-wing ideology had 68% lower odds of engaging in violent (vs. nonviolent) radical behavior (b = −1.15, SE = 0.13, odds ratio [OR] = 0.32, P < 0.001). On the other hand, the difference between individuals motivated by Islamist and right-wing causes was not significant (b = 0.05, SE = 0.14, OR = 1.05, P = 0.747). Expressed in terms of predicted probabilities, the probability of left-wing violent attack was 0.33, that of right-wing violent attack was 0.61, and that of Islamist violent attack was 0.62. These findings remained robust after we controlled for demographic variables (sex, age, education, minority status, immigration status), prior criminal experiences, military experience, and decade in which the perpetrator entered the database."

Before I read the article, I will first agree with you and likely the article that prior to 2015-ish (pre Trump), right-wing violence was "worse." However, like the Charlie Kirk case, there's a huge argument to be had because these kids are  often *in rebellion* of their families ideology. In other words, It's complicated because you almost *always* have a cocktail of influential upbringing mixed with the newly embraced *rebellious* ideologies these young men find in literature or online loooooong before they shoot anything up. These rebellious ideologies are quite often far-left or anarchist/nihilistic in nature.

I see this article was written in 2022. Let's see what sources and timelines they draw from. Reading now...

--------------

"In comparison to left-wing supporters, right-wing individuals are more often characterized by closed-mindedness and dogmatism"

I agree it used to be this way as a former democrat. I disagree it still is. The winds have shifted dramatically.

"In contrast, in comparison to their right-wing counterparts, left-wing individuals score higher on openness to new experiences, cognitive complexity, and tolerance of uncertainty"

Same with this one. The left has fallen into secular Dogma over the last ten years and "trusts the science" as much as the right-wing trusts their Bible. (People lie.) Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk was publicly ripping apart true anti-gay people on his tours. (Happy to show anyone the clip that wants to see it.)

I'm skipping the Islam stuff. Not relevant to our conversation.

"To be included in the database, individuals have to meet at least one of the following criteria: arrested or indicted for illegal ideologically motivated offenses, killed because of their ideological activities, identified as a current or former member of a designated terrorist organization, or associated with an organization whose leader or founder was indicted for violent ideologically motivated offenses."

Oof.

I'm going to finish the article, but under normal circumstances, I'd stop right here. What bullshit is this? They just found a convenient way to exclude EVERYTHING Antifa has done over the years! (And I get that most of it is peaceful, but enough of it is NOT and it's a FAR higher % than the average American being violent is.) Also let's not forget the 2 billion dollars of property damage done during the George Floyd riots. Dozens were KILLED, 2,000 officers were injured, as were hundreds of civilians. How convenient that none of that is going to be part of the study. To me, this is already a joke now, but I will continue to oblige because I promised.

Quote:
We included individuals whose public exposure occurred between 1948 and 2018

This is way too broad a timeline to be taken seriously and I already agreed that more violence came from right-wing homes than left-wing homes prior to the last decade or so. I'm going to agree with your article because it addresses the past. It does not address the present in any meaningful manner. A shame.

MY claim is from roughly 2015-2025. The left has lost it's damn mind.

Reading the rest of the article... I'm not going to be able to disagree much with the "findings" due to the timeline they took their sampling from. But even in 2022 they refused to get with the times by deliberately excluding all the "mostly peaceful" protests that took place nationwide.

Also, my original point still stands. A lot of mass shooters may have come from right-wing families, but had embraced left-wing or another ideology long before going guns-a-blazing in *rebellion* to the culture they came from.

There's no clean answer to this if you zoom out far enough. Any political side or ideology can create this under the right circumstances. But for the last decade, the political violence on the left has been FAR worse, and I highly recommend you start citing a more updated study that doesn't rely a no longer relevant timeline.

I'd stick to the last ten years.

Why don't you find that updated study which confirms your suspicions of political violence in the last decade? Because, otherwise, it's just your biased 'gut feelings' and I will instead assume that the pattern established from 1948 to 2018 continues to hold.

As I've already established, just like the Charlie Kirk shooter, a large number of these people long ABANDONED right-wing ideology in their hearts and are being lumped in with Republicans because that's the family they came from. But if you look deeper into what they believed, they were *rebelling* against their republican upbringing, and that was the entire point of their shooting spree.

Also, you haven't addressed Antifa or the mass riots, which were conveniently not included in the study by limiting the criteria.

Violence is violence, mate. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which political party has become more violent. MAGA had every right. EVERY right to riot. Instead, they celebrated Charlie's life and held vigils and group prayers.

America is going to wake up this reality we're in. Many already have and are jumping ship before it sinks. Those in denial can admit where we are at now, or go down kicking and screaming with the ship.

Here, I did the work for him. Source: https://www.csis.org/analysis/left-wing-terrorism-and-political-violence-united-states-what-data-tells-us

In brief, FoolOfElysium is correct to say that left-wing political violence has increased in the last decade, but wrong to say that left-wing violence has eclipsed right-wing violence. 2025 is unique in being the first year in decades where left-wing violence outnumbers right-wing violence, but this is the result of a significant decrease in right-wing violence, rather than an increase in left-wing violence. Despite the increase in political violence, left-wing attacks remain overwhelmingly non-lethal and far less lethal compared with other ideological orientations.

Quote:
Our analysis of terrorism trends in the United States shows that, indeed, left-wing violence has risen in the last 10 years, particularly since President Donald Trump’s rise to political prominence in 2016, although it has risen from very low levels and remains much lower than historical levels of violence carried out by right-wing and jihadist attackers.

[...]

The left-wing movement as a whole has not returned to its violent heights of the 1960s and 1970s, but the number of terrorist incidents involving left-wing extremists so far this year puts 2025 on pace to be the left’s most violent year in more than three decades. Moreover, 2025 marks the first time in more than 30 years that left-wing attacks outnumber those from the far right.

Indeed, the increase in left-wing attacks is particularly noticeable because attacks from right-wing perpetrators have sharply declined in 2025. This decline is striking, and explanations are speculative. One possibility is that many traditional grievances that violent right-wing extremists have espoused in the past—opposition to abortion, hostility to immigration, and suspicions of government agencies, among others—are now embraced by President Trump and his administration.

[...]

From 1994 through 2000, there was an average of 0.6 left-wing incidents annually; in the following decade, that figure doubled to 1.3 a year. Numbers began to grow substantially, however, in 2016, and from 2016 to 2024, they averaged 4.0 a year. Through July 4, 2025 (thus excluding the Kirk attack), there were five left-wing attacks or plots, which sets a trajectory for a record-breaking year in the last 30 years.

[...]

[D]espite the rise in the number of left-wing incidents and the likelihood that such incidents involve realized violence, the lethality of left-wing attacks remains very low. Left-wing attacks are overwhelmingly non-lethal and far less lethal compared with other ideological orientations. Since 2020, only two fatalities have resulted from left-wing terrorist attacks in the United States: Luigi Mangione’s assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City in December 2024 and Michael Reinoehl’s fatal shooting of right-wing protester Aaron Danielson in Portland, Oregon, in August 2020 (if the Kirk killing is included, as seems likely, it would be a third fatality). Right-wing and jihadist attacks, by contrast, have caused far higher fatalities.

In the past decade, despite the increase in the number of left-wing incidents, left-wing attacks have killed 13 victims, compared with 112 and 82 victims for right-wing and jihadist attacks, respectively.
