Yeah, it is what it is for now. One day I’ll get a pile going. And hopefully be able to get some of my potted trees in the ground. The krats, but also some citrus and fig trees. Some plants grow and sustain in pots and trudge along, but they’re def not reaching their potential and stay in a miserable limbo of sorts. My citrus plants definitely fall into that category. I’ve sadly never seen a fruit, in about 6-8 years. I’ve lost track of labeling with them also, so it’ll take a harvest to know what I got again. I think I still have clementine, sweet lemon from  Overseas, and a lime tree. The later is known and a recent purchase… I got it at Walmart for like 20$. It has bloomed but not any fruits.

Figs do really well in my area, my two miserable trees in paint buckets would blow up into massive gorgeous trees, with a good harvest. But they’re definitely not vibing with the bucket life at all.

The krats tolerate it quite well, but I know they’re limited. The photos of ppl online who have the option to plant in the ground, is def a notable difference. Towering beauties by the looks of it. As long as that heat and moisture is there. I’d still like to have a few wild krat gardens in different areas. Sadly all my attempts have failed. But after a couple of years of thinking about it, I might have some possibile options. It’s not invasive or detrimental to any element to the local ecology, so fuck it. One or two krats out there might be a cool experiment one day

I grow citrus and figs and my citrus trees wont fruit in pots. I have some limes and grapefruits.

Now,  I also have a bunch of fig trees in the ground and they do excellent every year. I know that figs will grow and produce in pots,  but it just wouldn't be worth waiting all that time for only a handful of fruits,  in my opinion.

Oh yeah,  I love them,  but they are nuisances in the garden. They destroy my figs,  peppers,  and just about any fruit that I grow out there 

I can't do anything about it while I'm gone to work, but I know their constant annoying call when I'm at home and when I hear it,  I know that they are out there doing damage. So,  I just shoo them off.

Nice additions to the garden! I’m close to your zone and the big ones will do fine with the winter. They’ll go leafless, but will come back to life once the weather warms up. I still like to wrap them stems when it’s freezing cold though just in case, I have lost a few plants to really hard winter freezes. But 70-80% of the time, they make it.

The small ones might need more delicate attention. Maybe even keep in smaller containers, and then just bring them in for the really rough nights. As long as you have a nice little stem, they should make it.. even if really small. Best wishes

Im in zone 10a and they do alright and die back in the winter. 2 winters ago i lost my in ground bumble bee. Then in thw spring it came back. i just couldnt keep it alive in my former line of work. They are so water intensive.

So it died and that was that.

Def thirsty plants. One thing I’ve done to help cut this back some, is just growing them in a part sun area. A place that just gets a few hours of light, preferably evening light. They never seem to mind, and if I miss watering for a day or two, they haven’t been getting beat down so hard in the sun. They’re drought tolerant to an extent, but once that line is crosses just a little too much, it’s over with. I’ve lost a few to the heat/drought, don’t be too hard on yourself bro. It definitely happens. I can’t wait until the day I can plant my trees in the ground. Buckets and pots are all I’ve ever worked with, regarding Kratom. And they def make the most of it and get down.. but I know they’d be stellar if they had the root space. Probably would weather the elements a lot better also.
