Gotcha okay, I have a place outside where they wouldn’t get any direct sun light. I’m just not sure if my house is too cold or not, and I don’t have a heating mat or anything like that

You can root cutting outdoors. I used a humidity dome and it was at the tail end of Summer. Took about 3 weeks. In the shade.

Aiko Aiko said: Damn Jake, thats awesome, nice work! I watched a video where the dude said you wanna avoid the stems when taking a cutting that have the little white dots on them since that's the beginning of the branch forming the wood on it. It seems like there is a very small window when the little leaf "buds" start forming at the node and when the next node starts for when its all green with no spots. I swear it seems like the spots start showing up before the next node starts to pop. Im just wondering how important it is to not have any spots on the cutting? I hope that made sense.
The spots you refer to are called, Lenticels. It's just a bunch of raised pores that act as a gas exchange system. Similar to the function of Stomata in leaves. They don't affect whether your cuttings take or not. You use soft wood cuttings of this years growth. You can visually see the difference between soft wood and semi softwood. Then there's the hardwood of last years growth, that has undergone secondary thickening.

I think the post you mean was deleted, do you mean this one: Rooting Kratom Cuttings?

I probably did. Seems the OP deleted it. Just ruins it for everyone.
I'll find some to replace it then. Top priority.
Thanks for letting me know. We're happy to add any articles the general posters think are worthy. Write some even.

I remembered hearing somewhere that honey can be used as a rooting hormone, so I started digging around and found this:
https://sci-hub.tw/https://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.4141/sa-1939-0034?journalCode=sa
which concludes:
Quote:
SUMMARY Honey has a definitely stimulating effect on the rooting of cuttings of Thuja and Chrysanthemum. This may be due to any one of many substances in the honey, or to a combination of two or more of these substances.
I'm going to give rooting cuttings in honey a shot, maybe it'll work and maybe it won't, but I hope it does. I don't have a source for any rooting hormone other than just powdered rooting hormone. No higher end nutrients.

Thanks Karode for the links and the explanation regarding the lenticels. Great info! That being said, I have a bunch of branches I can work with. And Jake too, I appreciate your input as always!

You're more than welcome, Aiko Aiko. It's refreshing to be back after a longish break. I'll likely be adding more threads, categories and even posting some of my own teks as I'm quite active in my garden these days.
Seeds. Thanks to, you know who.

Whoa, we have that exact same greenhouse in our backyard, must've been a pretty wicked storm. Ours is somewhat protected on two sides, one by the house and one a 6' cinder block wall on the property line, so I don't expect we'll ever have enough wind to blow out the walls like that. I also built a redwood base with cemented pillars in each corner to hold it down.
