So here we go. 2 with just perlite and clone-x and one with just potting soil and clonex. I have them outside in FL in shade. Still worried its gonna get a little hot in the tub Ill probably open up a couple holes in the tub like half way.

Aiko, if your plants are large enough I suggest you look into air layering. Most effective method I have used.

That's a really creative way to root kratom. I'm going to have to try that since I only have 1 kratom plant that has been turning into a tree this summer.

I was just watching a video on that with fruit trees. Youre getting good success rates that way?

Have not taken any cuttings this year, but has been the most productive method I have found in the past.

So, for air layering, you just select a portion of the stem with woody growth or does it matter? I have a RVT that is being a PiTA to clone. I may try this on it to see if I can get roots this way without having to acclimate.

I think my first attempt at cloning has failed. The leaves are all drupey and sad looking. I think I may have screwed up by not cutting with a razor blade nor did I cut at a 45 degree angle on the stem. Will be trying again today.

Please help!

Ok so I do not keep my Kratom trees in full Sun. Either partial afternoon sun or a shady area and they seem to love it.
Its been chilly the past two nights so I put every one up where I usally do for two days and nights.
Yesterday I noticed a abnormally large amount of leaf drop when I watered every one last night.
Today I come home and some asshole has put them in the middle of the yard and they completly dried out looking like a flamethrower has been taken to them. Leaves all around.
Is this from them drying out and bieng in full sun all day or was somthing sinster beginning the day before? Ive never had any of my leaves do this and they hardly ever fall off.
Idk what to do besides water which ive already done.
Thanks in advance.

You select any woody stem, scrape back just enough bark to expose the green tissue, cover the area in moist sphagnum moss, and wrap the whole thing in plastic to keep in moisture. The idea is that the stem will throw roots into the moist media while still being attached to the mother plant to keep it alive. Wait a few weeks, check for roots, clip below the roots and pot up!

Talked to him about two weeks ago, doing well in ferrel land.

Thanks turtle, glad to hear hes alright
And yeah batty, i agree w the above poster, it looks like sun scorch/shock. The tips looks pretty unaffected though, so thats good news. Once it starts to get a little cooler, be ready for the discoloration of many bumps and serious leaf fall. Not sure how cold it is for you, but i have about two months or so left over here. I was so lazy this year, i needed to do several transplants and only knocked out like two hopefully i dont lose everything in the freezes to come. Ill def be taking some clones just in case

Thanks everyone! They looked alot better when I came home today and only two leaves have fallen since.
Could anyone help me out on a method to take cuttings?
Do I just make sure it has three nodes each with two leaves. Cut at a angle like the trichocereus. It says to watch out for white spots on the stem because thats a sign its turning woody but my cuttings had a few white spots and did fine?

So I seemed to have fixed my problem (tap water) I’m now using distilled water and making a specific mineral profile (and adding clone X) everything is looking much better I got a full 38 clone load all growing roots. The rapid rooters and still ok but no root formation. I’m also gonna do that air layering not only to make clones but keep their height down thru the winter
