Most of them are growing in sowing and cutting soil which contains perlite. Some of the seedlings are in 100% coir with some organic slow-release pellets to see how they like it.

Keep us updated. My tree is putting on some nice branches, I want to take cuttings but am a little intimidated by what I've read of their requirements.

namaste, I feel you on the cuttings. I have had poor success rooting kratom cuttings over the years. Just put a tray of cuttings in rockwool with a humidity dome inside my hoop house. Will post an update when I have some progress.

Anyone have experience rooting M. hirsuta? I have a pretty tall tree I was planning to chop down so it can focus growth on the sprouts/suckers at the base and not be so tall (about 7'). Also to make it bushier for more cuttings and to be manageable when I bring it indoors over winter.
I guess I'm mostly just curious if the woodier sections of the stem will throw roots easily in an aerocloner. The main stem is a little thicker than my thumb.
*Edit: maybe air layering the thicker parts would be safer bet? I see removing bark helps with M. speciosa so I may give it a try with the hirsuta.

I am around the Gulf Coast. Don't have any cuttings rooted at the moment, but I will be taking some soon with the new growth.

This is my largest kratom tree, it has topped 2m in height and growing like crazy. Have some air layers on two of the lower branches, will see how they turn out.

I finally got a Psychotria Colorata plant in mail from South Africa. Same family as kratom, it was super happy in the bottle it arrived in! haha.... but I fucked up and transfered it to wet soil, its been wilted since. I hope it recovers it doesnt seem totally dead yet.. Fortunately in transit one of the leaves formed roots, I put that in a solo cup and its been looking happy!! If that gives me a full plant I will shit myself!!!

What makes Psychotria colorata different from other plants in the same genus? I have a small Psychotria hybrid of carthegensis x viridis called 'Nexus'.

Its the same family as kratom and coffee. I think Viridis is different but maybe Im mistaken-- Anyway it contains alkaloids similar to kratom but it mostly has alkaloids that are NMDA receptor antagonists. Psychotridine and Hodkensine. I need to order a new plant I suppose ahaha, I dont think mines going to survive the transplant shock its going through.

From what I read, they are all part of the psychotria family, just slightly different. Like keg said some don't contain worth while tryptamines while others do not.
Heard Nexus is the second highest deamz producer after virdis.
