No, my driving record is pretty good but my credit score is not great and I live in a state where they are allowed to use that as a criteria to increase your rate. 

Also the area I live in is full of elderly New York drivers and most insurance companies take into account the risk conditions in the zip code you park in. 

Once, I moved from the greater L.A. metro to way on the outskirts.  My commute increased a lot and most of my driving was done in the same area as before but my rate went way down because my home zip was considered way less risky

I moved like 10 miles south a few years ago, and into a county that’s way whiter and richer, and my premiums dropped like 30%.

Pretty stupid, there’s way more old people and distracted soccer moms here but I guess less risk for uninsured drivers? Idk.

If you moved out of the city. Typically your rates will go down because the odds of your car getting broken into and stolen go dramatically down.

Yeah car theft and break ins are a major thing with them now. I just got quotes and alot them were asking these types of questions :shrug:

I went from a suburb to a different suburb, but I wonder how their algorithm factors that in.

The “is your vehicle garage kept” is a big factor, I’m sure.

People keep boats and RVs and shit in their driveways around here, so I’m sure break-ins are pretty low.

I live in the hood... people break into houses and cars.. and my fucking garage.. all the time. I used to have a badass dog that scared the piss out of would-be intruders but... he died.

When I went to court a couple years ago, the kid who went before me was a minor... but he got 5 years for breaking into a car lot building, and stealing a bunch of keys/cars off the lot. It's a really bad problem here.

I don't know shit about wherever you're talking about.. but where I live the black kids all wanna be fucking gangsters... half of them have gun charges for dumbass shit.

I met a kid in jail who shot his xgfs house up, cuz she dumped his loser ass. Shit like that. All the fuckin time.

And these little teenage cunts are getting bolder every year. We have break ins all the time in my neighborhood. Houses, cars, businesses.. yeah.

I consider my city to be fairly mild, as far as crime goes tbh.

Where are you, if you don’t mind my asking.

I’ve been eyeing a move to the Seattle metro area and all people talk about are the horrors of property theft in the region. My wife acts like I want us to live in South Africa or something.

Stats I see have trended down since covid, and that’s pretty much everywhere, so I’m wondering if it’s a real phenomenon unique to the are or if it’s just a bunch of disproportionately wealthy white people forgetting to lock their car doors. I lived in Chicago as a kid and this never seemed to be such a media-dominating narrative.
