Interesting, are the cycles predefined or programmable.
And what isn the theory of having a lighted night cycle ( other than being able to observe them )?

And you still wonder if you were misled?

You can use an incandescent bulb with no special spectrum.

Mushrooms don't require specific spectrums because they're not photosynthetic.

It is slightly programmable, it allows you to to cycle it in 6 hour, 8 hour, or 12 hour cycles and it gives you a switch that lets you adjust how bright it is in any given situation. This is me turning up the night cycle to its brightest point for the photo.

I have no clue tbh what the theory is on the lights at night, I was wondering the same thing but I thought it must have some purpose since this was sold (likely to suckers like me who don't know any better because they're just starting out) as being for "mycology purposes" and "root vegetables".

Probaly b.s. that "made with mushrooms in mind", but a lot of the long-running people on here, including some of the main players and TCs seemed to have determined about a decade ago that this is settled science: that,...while shrooms don't NEED light, they grow better with light, and grow best with 6500k, 12 hours on / 12 hours off, every day. doesn't even have to be bright like it would be with plants. Just...light.

Someone may say "prove it", well, I don't feel strongly enough about it to go searching the threads on here, but there are lot of older ones about this that I read when I was trying to figure all this out 4 years ago. Pretty sure RR was one of the people who felt strongly about this.  I think someone even did a test with a control group.

Personally, I grow shrooms with 6500k light, 12 hours on / 12 off. 

As one person said (I'm paraphrasing) "Shrooms are like people. They can both exist without light, but both become twisted and strange in the dark."

(And if you own some  6500k LED tube or panel lights, they're great for growing opium poppies.)

Sadly opium poppies is one thing I definitely can't grow as I had a fifteen year heroin addiction. Only drug that nearly destroyed my life even though it feels...so...good. I have to be satisfied with suboxone.

Also thanks for the detailed response that mirrors what I heard (6500k led light with 12 hours on/off) and why I got a grow light in the first place. But I also read on here that just the ambient light in the room is enough, as long as the tub isn't sitting in direct sunlight. So I did both to cover my bases.

But even if it all is nonsense and I don't need it, I am growing other plants that do need the light 100% for sure so I feel it's not the worst investment either way. I'm growing Tom thumb tomatoes and Basil right now.

But i also am not gonna lie, I purchased the light because it also looked cool being able to switch between blue, white and red light. I am nothing if not easy to please with pretty things.

I don't feel so bad with the culture mix up now. 1 pint oat spawn to 2 qts manure in a shoebox  isn't bad.

sweet shit, also Marijuana can cure any addiction because its not addictive the least.

But of course our "dear" pharm industry cant make millions from forcing us to buy it so its remains a schedual 1 drug in the EU which is just silly. Germany legalized and..nothing changed, no more fucking car asccidents no more school shootings, no more people getting hooked ON IT (a visualize some TV bitch saying..research has shown that 12 year olds are  "NOW SMOKING VICODIN FROM PIPES.." The government wish to warn you all of personal greed and freedom to use your body however you like.

WE must forever remember that we are nothing but cattle for the rich...and of course our beloved government.
