After I took some transfers to expand this plate, I decided to leave it on the shelf unwrapped

Just curious, how big of a possibility is there really to ending up with a non-fruiting culture when germing on plates and transferring out to T2/T3 to ensure clean spawn? Should I be worried? How far out can you go before you're more likely to get a non-fruiter?

Not so far that you really need to worry about it. Senescence happens on agar over who knows how many transfers.

Very unlikely is the short answer

This is actually a T1 transfer . Iโ€™m excited to have cleaned it up from its original plate which managed to germinate but with some contamination on the sides. This was my first time doing a transfer and glad it worked out. Canโ€™t wait to get some agar to grain and hope for a successful ghost grow. I heard they can be picky and troublesome.

I would take some transfers from 4.20 and put the rest to grain.

Honestly toss that whole thing into a grain jar and itโ€™ll colonize super quick

I wouldn't even go through all the trouble. The dish looks so good I'd just cut it up into rails and put one up each nostril

Why are your plates inside baggies? Contam that may exist inside the bags can reach the inside of the plates. Drop the bags, wrap your plates with cling wrap, grafting tape or parafilm IMO.

Bags are fine.. the inside is sterile when you take it out of the box.. if your sterile technique is decent, there won't be any contam inside the bag

I was actually using  the baggy as an extra measurement of still airness. You see I put the petri plates in my SAB with a box of these baggies ready to go. I  then barely open the baggie to put my virgin plate in one. I then open the baggie slightly and put my
Virgin plate inside. I take my scalpel with the wedge of the original germinated plate and put it in the new Petri dish inside the baggie. I figured it was a good idea, I hate using parafilm and stretching it out trying to fit around the plate then cutting it. I was actually thinking of using cling wrap, but so far using these baggies has worked fine with no contams(that I can visually see with my naked eye) have made it into these new plates.

Can anyone one working with Gandolf tell me if it usually looks a bit more whispyer/fluffier on agar than most cubes cultures?
