Yes, I do tape before the pc. As for cementing on, I've never had any issues with 3M brand tape. Once dry it peels off clean as can be. I have used off-brand tape with pretty horrible results though, that shit is still stuck on there5

Yes, I've always prepped my no pour plates this way be it pp containers or glass.
Key is to not submerge your plates but to raise them above the water level.

I could just toss it also as I have already made several transfers expanded and fruited it.
My thing is I don't want to start ANY more cultures until I get some used up or in storage so no go on using it now but I also want to keep one of the early plates to go back and draw from if I don't like the results I get from my clones.


I didn't get an answer so I figured what's the harm in trying and figuring it out for myself she's vacuum sealed and in the culture fridge now.
Next question is it ok to vacuum seal a culture?:lol:


I think they need to breath a bit so vacuum sealing them might not be a good idea. I could be wrong hopefully someone more knowledgeable will step in and answer you. I keep pinning plates in cold storage as well so I don't see why you couldn't.

Saw 2 different posts recently form 2 different members trying to vac sceal plates. One ended up with crushed plates from vaccuming, the other ended up with dead cultures from the lack of air.

i just use foil actually, iโ€™ve seen one post that would wrap stacks in cling wrap but ime it shrinks in a weird way & is more annoying to get off the plates than foil. i use the cling wrap for wrapping the petris after

just need to take some pics after work but im getting done w the write up! pretty simple
stuff but it helps to have it all laid out i think

Guys, what do you think about this plate? This "strange" grow pattern is due to contamination? If so, would it be OK to out in grain anyway even if it's not ideal?

iโ€™d personally take a transfer from that 9-10 oโ€™clock area & see how it grows out. idk that iโ€™d send that to grain right now

Just made T2 plates and they are getting started.  The B+ is a nutty myc.  It is growing like crazy.

What do I do with the T1 plates?  Iโ€™d hate to just toss themโ€ฆ I cared for and loved them!  Hahaha :heart::heart:  If I just let them go and by chance they pin, is ti a good idea to take that to agar?
