Some TCs believe enmeshed mold isn't a thing that happens and question if it's just an old false idea

the blue ones are all t1, the ones not in a baggy are GT. think going to make a new transfer later this week.

edit: I think the two left (small petris) from the GT petris I will toss. Don't look satisfying ^^

Yes it can be normal so many things can happen : the selected piece of myc, the nutrients and recipe from one plate to another, etc.

I've had that happen quit ofter. Ryzo to Tom and vice-versa. That said, I use grain water from different grains (mostly WBS or rye) so my plates are always different each pour.

I would worry and keep transferring the tom one till you get a nice tom plate. They grow both tom and rizo to compare. You could be surprised by the results

I've read it here a few times in TCs posts. There was one just a few weeks ago that said it. I can't recall where or who it was though.

Nichrome, I believe. And Nichrome absolutely has checked under a microscope many times, I would bet money.

I just went through Nichromes replies and microscopy pictures. Nichrome is is a very capable and intelligent individual, he may be correct, but I have my doubts regarding  the "all clear"

Here are some great examples here:

Floccose growth with scalloped edges.

Although I do not know what causes this kind of  growth pattern I do know that I have a 100% failure rate when attempting to fruit tubs spawned with grains inoculated with similar cultures.

I have a 100% failure rate when attempting to transfer away enough times to change growth, it persists.

The issue with microscopy is that you're dealing with a focal plane, which I'm sure that Nichrome is aware of, perhaps further investigation is required regarding comingled organisms.

That aside, I am not the only cultivator that experiences problems with similar cultures, so I'd wager that there are things yet to discover here.

I agree with you here, maybe in that Post Nichrome was speaking on there was no mold intermeshed but thats 1 example of millions. I do find it interested that he said the weak looking formations of myc are more susceptible to contam but there is no contam present.  All i know if what ive experienced and wack looking myc that looks like it has mold hidden in it, generally always fails for me. :shrugs:

there hass to be some hidden mold sometimes, how can that just not exist at all.

Its like saying were alone in the universe

Can we call these kinds of cultures retarded or is that a misnomer?
