It does look thin and I'll let them go longer...

500ml media bottle, 400ml regular water, 7gm agar, 7gm LME and 1 gm NY that I created broth out of before putting with LME/Agar...

20'ish min PC at 15psi...

I'm going to learn LC for better colonization...

So this is just to get better at agar even though I'll be putting an agar piece to LC...

Also my agar to grain with this particular strain Yeti is not colonizing and It has a half petri dish agar in each 4qt bag...

First agar plate. Just grabbed a chunk of grain from a jar before it got dumped into the monotub. Kinda surprised at the amount of growth already but I’ll let it percolate more then grab the best from the upper fan for a transfer.

Welcome to agar. That's likely bacterial, I'd grab a transfer from 2h30 - pic 1 (or noon - pic 2)

The thick looking growth on the grain itself, the uncolonized zones on each sides, the spacing between the "strands" of ryzo

Yeah fully & freshly colonized grain mycelium will jump off quick.  If you do a grain chunk again in the future you could try it on Water Agar to lessen the chance of bacteria.

This might be a dumb question and I'm sure not my first or only but here ya go. If you are putting plates to grain, the same variety obviously, do you keep the same plates in the same tub? For example and simplicity, If you have 2 plates and 4 jars and plate 1 goes into jars 1 and 2 and plate 2 goes into jar 3 and 4 you would put jar 1 and 2 into one tub and jar 3 and 4 into another tub or does it matter?  I suppose you may want to put all 4 jars in one tub for volume sake but it seems you would do 4 jars from one plate at that point?

I'm going thru work flow in my head for some grain jars I'm going to try soon and this occurred to me in volume planning.

Depends. If you’re testing cultures, if keep the jars separate so you know how the agar is performing.

No, this would be putting the agar to grain to bulk in a couple or more SBs.

They're T3s or maybe T4s from the from different donor plates from the "Dumb Idea" thread but they all came from the same fucked jar.

Just trying to get it all straight for best results.
