It kinda seems like we need a chemistry thread, lol. Please don't tell me I'm the only one who does not know wtf you guys are talking about. I keep checking to see if I'm still in cultivation general discussion. I am interested in what y'all figure out though.
Is this basically to make crystal of the gods?

Yes and no, the discussion started with just extraction into water and preservation or potentiation of active compounds.

The scientific papers and book chapter that were linked do also talk about isolating psilocybin though further from the solution though.

Yes! I'm going to have long crystals of the Gods! I wonder if you turn the crystals into Freebase if you could smoke it? I know psilocybin it's destroyed with heat, but maybe you can vaporize it.

Alright homie, come back when you got well documented experiments.

Let me start : how wet do you guys keep your sub surface? (don't link me that proper surface condition post please). I like mine pretty wet and all bubbly but I let it somewhat dry when I see pins.

"The theory is that these juices break down psychedelic mushrooms so your digestive system doesn’t have to, exposing and then converting the readily-available psilocybin into psilocin, the prodrug responsible for the coveted psychoactive effects. "

It doesn't though, according to both links Yoshi posted it prevents breakdown into psilocin.

Among other things.

"Methanol was also used in a single extraction step by other investigators who concluded it to be the best for analysis of psilocybin from mushrooms [49]. They also used aqueous alcohol which increased the amount of psilocin recovered from the plant material. This was ultimately discovered to be an anomalous result from the degradation of psilocybin to psilocin. Use of dilute acetic acid solutions was found to be better for this recovery without the degradation problem."

I keep my surface moist all the way through. For the most part this requires no effort, and I have never given thought to reducing surface moisture at any point in the life cycle.

If it’s too dry I’ll mist, but I’m starting to think that’s due to not giving certain cultures enough coir. My field capacity is pretty dialed in, so my conclusion is that dry tubs are the result of thirsty cultures.

Any opinions on that?

Field capacity is actually not an exact thing. You can use between 5-7 parts water to coir without noticing much difference at the squeeze test. IIRC p9 uses around 7:1 ratio

I keep mine like Rusty said bubbly and wet then start to dry more when pins start. I do think a lot of bubbles and moisture can cause more aborts like they talk about in that surface conditions thread.
