I got some spores for stone producers a while ago, Iโve been dying to get them started (or more cubes) but Iโm in the same boat as some other poster a few pages ago, I ended up with may more jars of dried cubes than I needed. Havenโt been giving many away cause my friends gossip too much to tell them Iโm growing (and most donโt enjoy psychedelics anyway) so Iโm on growing hiatus until Iโve eaten more of my backlog
The last half a year growing has sort of replaced consuming them for me, itโs been an incredibly fun process.

Generally, I find cult very gratifying. More so than harvesting, and tripping even. Agar work is my fave part, but I post all those pics on a dif thread.
Hereโs something neat Iโm working on currently: a P. natalensis culture which looks pretty healthy to me. Is my first time running this species, am hoping for first fruits in a week or two.

Love it! Don't even grow because I need the fruits anymore. Just grow because I love the process and find it very satisfying. Been branching into exotics and have been enjoying the learning curve. Reminds me of just starting out again.

You know and Iโm just gonna say it. I purposely grow contaminated grows so that dumb mycelium suffers throughout its life cycle.

Exactly so, harvests are cool and all. But with cubes, at this point, I basically only grow them for the sport of getting a pretty photograph of someone elseโs cool cross, or for sharing prints.
Trying out Nats and Mexicana, about to start my first Panaeolus bisporus grow too. Eventually itโll be exciting to compare the effects of consumption between the diff species. But for now itโs just the excitement of growing something new to me.

Aside from the legal aspects which we've discussed here before..
Cult is my cocaine. Eating them is my religion.
When I'm in a trip, it's the best thing ever. But in my day to day I enjoy the cult way more.

Iโm thankful for the nature of the trip because if it werenโt for tolerance I would take them daily. I would trip every day and it would eventually become a problem. It is my favorite thing. Cultivating is rewarding and stimulating, and itโs good that it provides me with mushroom related activity between tripping.
Iโm a well rounded person and have other hobbies but I do love this in particular.

@Smellyhobbit : I think you should try get the hydration level you are looking for without using verm (save if for when you need it IE: coir too wet), that way you save time and verm money.
Also, maybe the verm keeps drinking longer than you think it does and you end up with under hydrated coir? Hence the dry sub with some cultures? Just theories.

I had the same thought about dialing back moisture to save verm. Cut a pint last time. Iโll probably cut another cup on my next batch. Weโll see! Iโm out of verm so lol.
I dont have and canโt procure a larger scale, so everything is getting done by eye for a while regardless.

Yes. I too haven't eaten them in over a year now. Kinda over did it when I started growing, tripping every week or other week. Took a tolerance break that just kept going. My cult has only ramped up though.

I once tripped every day for 2 weeks. I wish I had some dope story about these times... But I just watched old twilight zone episodes the entire time. Very lackluster.

Last few times I ate them I had weird side effects and a panic attack that landed me in the ER with a shot of Valium in my arm. It was 2 yrs ago. I had bad mental health and I learned that sometimes I'm reactive hypoglycemic.
Since then my entire mindset has changed completely, I've let everything go and found peace through Buddhist practice. I've lowered my insulin resistance, learned to eat healthier to support stable bloodsugar.
I think a drop in bloodsugar happens when shrooms kick in. This causes all sorts of nerve issues in the brain with vision, hearing, and cognitive function. This drop then causes the brain to trigger adrenaline excretion to metabolize fat into glucose. Adrenaline coupled with tripping and the nerve misfunction causes a panic anxiety state and a bad trip.
This is my theory is all.

I have forgone verm in my monos. And I have found dialing in my tubs much easier if I run the coir on the wet side. Two things are needed for that: 1) Clean spawn 2) very lofty coir. Like zero compression. Wet coir can turn to a brick that doesn't evaporate off it internal moisture.
Very loose wet coir really helps keep the tote humid and allows me to open up airflow more.
my unrequested two cents.
