Textbook plate, great work! Man I post germ plates and contam plates all the time, lol. I have some really pretty B+ plates, though growth appears to be more tomentose. But it's healthy, clean and grows fast.

Anyway keep it up! Have you started any grain jars yet? I'm getting ready to soon and hope to see my first pin before frost, lol.

:myman: beautiful just beautiful

Also with the charcoal in plates really funky thick ropes and bad transfer but without charcoal game changer!

This is a Germ plate.  What do you guys see on this?  I'm just not sure what I'm looking for.  Does anyone have a good progression of germ to T1, etc. With pics that I could follow along with to learn what I'm looking for in healthy mycelium?

My first plins

This fluffy plate produced some

Beautiful plins. Clone them.

I cloned a few of them until I ran out of plates.

I tried to cut with a scalpel, but managed to mangle one in the process.
After transfer and two days later:

I saw no other way than to pick the smaller plins. I guess this will transfer some of the surrounding mycelium, which means I won't get a single strain.
After transfer and two days later:

I put the source plates for these in the fridge since I'm not quite ready for a2g yet. Is that a good idea, or should I just continue to collect pins? I also have some agar slants, but I guess the plates can be stored in the fridge for a while.

I left the fluffy plate out, and the plins keep growing:

Thanks, they all came from MSS, all three look like that basically and I guess I'm going to put them into my spawn bags when their fully colonized!

Did them with gloves, mask, 70% rubbing stuff, in front of my hood and used sterile scalpel...

Next steps for me:

1. Buy PC, make agar, make my own spawn bags and do 66qt tubs...
2. Get some weirdo albino strains like ghost, yeti, APE and either jack frost or pearly gates...

Say you're taking 4-6 transfers from the same plate for T2's, no visible contams, do you refire your scalpel at any point during those 4-6 or do them all quickly and carefully?

Maybe it's just from the picture and food colorant but :

why is the transfered piece clearly while but the rest of the growth gray?

Is it only me but despite being symmetrical it looks disorganized?

If I were you, I would go for T2 (and not go to grain) and ask for an experienced cult to look at it.

Edit: how long as it been between the transfer and the picture?

Hi and thank you for your very direct response! It's been about 10 days or less and yes they don't look perfect but I do think I used a blue plate to transfer from!?

I might go T2, I guess I was not so picky and wanted to keep the ball rolling...

I may have put the myc side up not down on these T1's, which is why they look white!?

It's B+ and I don't know how it should look and would have 4 to choose from to do T2's which I could post if you wanna see the rest?

:whathesaid: I was thinking the same thing about the color and disorganization, but I wasn't sure so I didn't say anything... but that whole group of plates you posted has a funny look to them.. maybe a TC can take a look at the pictures for you
