Falcon, who decides what is fake news? For a time, calling the invasion a war was fake news. If people want to steer clear of trouble, they probably shouldn’t say anything that conflicts with the government. They don’t even have to prosecute anyone. The law itself serves to curb any speech that doesn’t align with the official narrative.

That isn't the opposite. That's just another influential factor. I'm not debating with you the existence of separatist sentiment in the region. I'm debating the legitimacy of a referendum under occupation. I don't think it can have any. You seem to be a big fan. I'm not sure I can find a way to agree with you on this.

Call it what you want, Russian forces were in occupation of the region before the vote, outside the scope of their treaty. Putin admitted it. No amount of sugar coating can change it.

Can you find an example of someone getting in trouble for news that wasn't fake?  I've asked this repeatedly.

What do you mean "under occupation"?  Russia had it's military in Crimea for a long time before the referendum.  Were all those elections not legitimate?

As I pointed out before, there are two different laws, but the New York Times put their own fake news spin on it (it was previously shown the New York Times posts more fake news than RT.com).

I wish you would respond to my responses in kind instead of piecemeal.  It would be nice to have a system here if we're going to continually butt heads.

So the globally reputable NYT is spun and biased but the "trust us" Russian state media is sheer fact?  Where exactly was it shown that NYT is less reputable than RT? I'd love to see you back that up. I'd really love to understand how you think a free press could possibly be less accurate than one run by the state.

I mean the military occupation that began when Russian forces began operations outside the scope of the treaty that had them there in the first place. The one Putin claimed was necessary to protect the referendum from imminent interference by Ukraine.

Again, you say there was no invasion, no occupation but Putin disagrees. Who should I believe?

I just explained nobody has to be prosecuted for this law to be effective. Can you not read?
