Hey guys! I´ve been trying to get into agar and made some test plates and couple transfers, however i´ve been getting weird yellow spots on the inside of the plates(not on the first ones tho). I wipe my glass petris with bleach/water solution, then pc for 20 min and dry in the oven.
Ill put couple pictures i dont know if you can see the problem in those.

are these cubes or something else? I was concerned about some of my older enoki cultures getting a yellow brownish hew but after looking it up it turned out it's ok

Why the green agar eww. It's so hard to see what's happening. Anything but green homey.

That is probably some type of mold or intermeshed mold. Cubensis mycelium is not yellow under any circumstances (barring green agar)

I guess green food coloring was the only one my nearby store had, maybe i will find a different colour. For me it seems that the yellow thing is on the petri dish maybe its hard to see on pictures.I have some plates that i poured but did not put any spores into and they have the same problem, is it something with my cleaning or PC process? Or is it possible that condensation from them being on PC leaves some residue on the plates?

I'm guessing it's bacteria but without getting better pictures it's difficult to say.

Bactiera is generally related to your technique when working with the open plates.

I think it likely is contaminated...
I used a purple food coloring for my MEA and as this mycelium developed it turned a yellowish orange again much like the original undyed MEA would look.

I don't really know though because I'm still very new to this, but the other plates I have had that exhibited this behavior all wound up super bacterial or straight up got the Trich.

So yeah probably either today or tomorrow I'm gonna try spreading this little guy out to 8 more plates (this is also coincidentally my most aggressive genetic in terms of it's ability to myceliate grain)

Could i get some critique on my plates ? I have been getting craazy rosecomb/mutants that cover the entire tub. I am starting to get extremely paranoid about anything that doesn't look gorgeous.

Looks good, but rhyzomorphs weirdly lift into the air like they are escaping from something.

weirdly ununiform growht

3D/fuzzy look. Looks like bacterial bubbling.

It's possibly some kind of mycoparasite or mycovirus.

It's the least researched and knowledgeable area of home psychedelic cultivation because all of the scholarly work is on edible commercial mushrooms so far and it takes serious equipment to research (genetics, dna id, etc)

But you can see the mycelium is making multiple layers on top of each other in the first pic.

Getting mutations and blobs and stuff across multiple strains would be very statistically unlikely unless you were spraying some chemicals or something. That plus the strange mycelium leads me to believe it could be in the realm of the mycoparasite/virus.

But that's just more questions not really an answer right my bad...

I probably sound like a broken record and something like this should be super rare....

but there are more people growing mushrooms at home then ever before and the way we share our spores and make prints is ripe for mycovirus and mycoparasite transmission so it makes sense for it to grow exponentially and be more common over time.

Yes I wouldn't carry on with those 3 cultures you showed. Maybe try some new source. If a supplier had the problem then it could be in all of their stuff.

Even some bacteria are mycoparasites.

Now that's a start, I call it auto contam. So something is wrong
With your sterile tek. I say start your own thread and answer these.
    SAB?
    Gloves?
    Washed your forearms?
    Mask?
Cookie rack with damp towel under?
    SLOW movements?
Nothing passing over plate except agar pour?
            :towelie:
Well that's a start, from there you continue your
conversation without getting lost.

It looks good except the green mycelium at around 1 o'clock, but green agar so i don't know if it's cause of that.

First transfer from a clone plate looking well I think, I could of dropped the transfer closer to the centre I guess. Clones had whispy irregular growth but after 1st transfer they are all looking a lot stronger and showing much better more regular growth.

Made some transfers of some sketch GT and KSSS plates as well as throwing a couple chunks of said sketchy plates toe some test jars via hazyhorse's recommendation as I'm in kind of a hurry to get in a bunch of jars. We'll see what happens. The new plates seam toe be recovering nicely.

Here's a pan plate recovering. Going from agar>LI>grain(any recommendations on what type)>Baba Yaga's mono tek

Lastly big thanks to Mycoplex for the swabs. I can tell these are going to rip. will start cleaning up in a few days.

Another big thanks to Smartattack for the swabs. First time starting this variety.

Even though its early I think things are progressing well. I'll have a busy couple of weeks ahead of me. If anyone see's anything sketch let me know so I can address it.
