PE6 plate pin

Looks like a full plate shroom complete with spores. Must me one of those new self-innoculating plates lol.

Looks better than my forgotten about plates. Found one in back of fridge drowning in condensation. Hopefully I can dry it some before tossing it to grain.

Finally some germination in my backup LAGM plates. Looking a little sketch in some places. Think I will let them grow out a little more before T1 time.

Looking good Psylo, I had to throw a bunch of mine away. I had to throw my dehydrator in my fruiting room one day and close the door, it got fuckin hot and ruined several plates and 3 tubs.

Here's my newest plate pins:

<- Gandalf

<- Jack Frost

<- ESS (looks like I get another shot at these bastards!)

<- Playa Uvita 'cheesewheel' the flush these spores came from had some fin mutations so I'm wondering if this 3 headed 'pin' could actually be a fin?

And the plate pins I'm working on:

<- APEU

<- RW

<- Playa Uvita 'cheese wheel' any suggestions on where to transfer from here? It's got me scratching my head a little bit.

<- Whyte Gold

Is this just stressed out mycelium or is this infected? I had seriously hard time with the syringe, I would apply the smallest pressure, get 1 drop then it would just shoot out (which is what you see all over the plate).  ...sticking to swabs in the future.  I was able to get some healthy mycelium off one of the  other plates (I think).

That sucks. Last year I was dunking like 4 cakes and forgot about them for like 3 days and ruined all 4. They were not much more than soggy verm sponges when I took them out of the water and all dead. Sucked balls cuz it was all I had going at the time. Damn I was pissed.

I see the wierdest stuff here. These fungi sure have a mind of their own sometimes. Maybe we need an oddest growth thread lol.

Got a question for everybody who writes on their plates with what looks like sharpie markers. How do you guys remove the writing if you want to clean and reuse the plate? I use boro glass plates and I am sure glass and plastic can't take the same solvents. I am trying to avoid breaking out dry erase since one wrong touch and my plate id is gone. I have been using small strips of masking or clear tape thus far.

I use cling wrap on my plates so I just write on the cling wrap, been working okay so far.

An oddest growth thread sounds like a good idea!

70% iso works fine for me..usually too well because I wipe the labeling off and mix up cultures from time to time. Makes bigfoot angry!

I write on the side on the parafilm with a sharpie. Big letters go over the wrinkles fine dont try to write a novel.

Gee, I write on the plates with a Sharpie, when it's time
to wash them I use denatured alchohol from the paint store.
But I think ISO works too.

I like to keep the plates transfers came from, so not a fan
of writing on something that comes off like the cling.

It would scrub off the glass pretty good when you wipe it down though anyway. You must not wipe them very vigorously. Parafilm is so much stronger for a vigorous wipe. Look at that flimsy clingwrap! :awesomenod:

When it's on the parafilm you wipe and lay it to the side then if you want to store the plate you wrap again and relabel one at a time easy to keep track. It stays written on the wrap even with alcohol pretty well. Use a new piece of parafilm though.

Sometimes spots of sharpie don't want to come off the glass for shit. Then you got black dots.

Well no black dots for meeeee Sandman.

And that was a plate just to show the marking,
I'm using Parafilm now and loving it.

I will grant that in a large stack of plates, side marking
could be helpful.

That is my issue using either masking or clear packing tape with one end folded over to make it easy to gtab and remove. I wipe all my plates down with iso inside or before putting into the SAB and it takes the writing off my tape. I will try that since I prefer glass to plastic and parafilm goes on and comes off so much easier than tape. The side writing idea is good too...if all else fails I can break out my acetone or toluene...pretty sure that will wipe out any inks on glass with no damage or discoloration. Damn my OCD is coming out to play again. Well just got 20 more plates so off to do some pouring.

I feel the pain of mixing stuff up. I actually have a handful of cakes going that I have no idea what they are. I have noticed on cakes they all pretty much look the same anyways. I guess as long as some cubes still sprout from these older weaker cakes it doesn't matter and if not they will join the others buried around the yard/house under mulch and leaves. Maybe they will bring me surprises one day.

Thanks for all the advice everyone...interesting to see all the different ways everybody uses to accomplish the same basic thing.
