See?! I spotted this little bastard in my media bottle today..Nothing has popped up on any of the plates I poured from it so I must have have either capped it outside of the SAB or got sloppy once it was empty.

I seal plates by wrapping multispore tape around the side twice. Prove me wrong.

I'm just about to get a new bottle of agar in the PC and pour some NEW plates since my last ones are stupid. This time they will be 10g malt extract and 9g agar-agar, which I believe was my old preferred recipe. I also found my old bag of malt extract so this should be the same as my old plates. Hopefully I can start growing white myc again instead of only clear mycelium.

So this was a spore syringe, trying agar but this doesn't look like any of the pictures I've really seen... What's all the icicle like growth?

I've got a few exciting projects going right now.

Pan cyan (wild coast), Atl #7(tamps), Ghost, APE, APEU, PE, B+. I've got some dried blue magnolia on agar not pictured.

It is safe to say I'm all the way in!  I'm having a blast! 



I know I know...ketchup cups.  my contam rate is so low I haven't seen a reason to change. They stack like a boss. I get 30 in a shoebox. It is what it is.

Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. Some of my best cultures are 100% tom.

Just got 20 plates poured of what I believe is my old recipe - 10g malt extract and 9g agar-agar in 500ml water.



^^ that's what I'm used to seeing on T1s, not that weird invisible bullshit I'm growing now. I'll take some transfers tomorrow and hope they fill out so I can quit complaining and pissing everyone off in this thread :lol:

After adding yeast I am never going back. I would also say IMHO it is a medium that is more user friendly than the basic MEA.

Hey, I’m not pissed. Loving the second hand experience. Agar is my new obsession. I poured some new plates in preparation of my first transfers tomorrow. My MS PE plate is the size of a nickel and I plan to take some needle biopsies. Should I focus on any specific areas of my one and only plate, or just work my way around. Also, will 5 samples from this original plate be enough? Should I double it? Sorry for all the questions. I’m excited and nervous.

Is it just regular nutritional yeast I can pick up at the grocery store? I'll pick some up and give it a go my next sleeve.

5 should be plenty, those will become 10, which will become 15 lol...you'll figure it out. It's realllly easy to go overboard working with agar. It's like pulling a thread on a sweater, it just never stops!

I would be sure to hit 6 o'clock, then just work your way around.
