Here is the broad answer to the question. An answer I like though:
"Having spent a lot of time abroad, I will say one thing:
America is not perfect by any means, it's got its problems like all countries.
America lags behind in public transportation in most places, but you also need to consider population density. America has very low population density compared to many nations, like many European nations (that have population density similar to New York City). In a place like Texas where population density is extremely low it makes little financial sense to develop subway systems... it would be too expensive and would not serve many people at all. If you look at more densely populated section of the US you will see nearly the same public transportation infrastructure (and commuter rail) as Europe.
For the positives: America is the ONLY country with a functioning government that allow nearly unrestricted firearm ownership. All other countries require very hard to get license and in those countries only special people (police, military, olympic teams) could even shoot a gun at all and still be within the law. Asian countries in particular have the most restrictive restriction on firearms (some have death penalty for having them). For those who think this is bad, well America still manages to be a relatively safe country, while many countries with extremely restrictive laws have rampant crime problem (like Mexico). Because of America's gun culture many people here know how to handle a firearm, should they be called upon to bear arms for the country at least they got that part down.
America also have better respect towards the disadvantaged compared to many countries. In my "home" country (Taiwan) the labor department have little power to enforce labor laws, so much so that following labor law is actually a "feature" rather than a must. Here I work a lot less hard and earn more money doing the same jobs I did in Taiwan, and the bosses don't disrespect you or insult you every step of the way (in Taiwan nearly all bosses make you feel guilty for even receiving a wage from them)
America respects individual freedom a lot more than my country. Apart from the freedom to own guns, having a political opinion won't get you killed in America (it can in Taiwan). People have political discussions all the time and it can turn ugly, but it doesn't lead to people getting beat up. Discrimination is also a lot less, but race relation problems do exist here. I will say that anti discrimination laws here are comprehensive, and not only that if there's a genuine discriminatory treatment they are investigated and companies who discriminate faces significant liability, and the labor department here do have more power to enforce that. In my country if you reported discriminatory treatment, or even less than minimum wage (it happens way too often) or being forced to work off the clock, you'd lose your job and no one else would hire you.
Sometimes you gotta lose it to appreciate it..."
"You know I have been watching a lot of people BMW (B!@t, Moan, and Whine) about how bad the United States of America, because it doesn't have this or that like other countries have. And this post is probably going to see a lot of down votes by the kleptocrats because they can't handle anyone with a differing opinion.
Is the US the best country in the world? Hell YES! We are a nation of misfits and rebels, we are a nation that went from 13 colonies to a world power in less than 200 years. Saved Western Europe. TWICE (or would have rather the US stayed out of the fight and yall could have Deutsch als Primärsprache). American's have fought and died for the people of other nations.
We are a nation of innovators, the names of Edison, Jobs, Wozniak, Gates, the Wright Bros, and Nicola Tesla are known the world over, the internet you are using to complain about was created by Americans.
Is the US dysfunctional? Hell, yes, you could say the unofficial motto of the US is "No one has the right to beat on my brother but me." but like the song says "We may done a bit of fighting amongst ourselves, but you outsiders best leave us alone." Pearl Harbor and 9/11 proves that when and if we need to the US can and does unite in very scary ways against her enemies.
As for the healthcare systems you outsiders so enjoy and kleptocratic progressive statists Americans want to emulate? The reason medicines are cheaper than in the US lies in the fact that socialist medical systems in other nations don't pay fair market value for medicines, and that loss is passed on to the American consumer. In short it is the US citizen who is suffering from higher costs because you don't want to pay full price. One other note on healthcare, and this goes to everyone, if you think you have a right to healthcare, intentionally or unintentionally you believe in slavery, you believe you have the right to steal from healthcare product manufacturers, force service providers and professionals to take care of you.
As for the US military, on that I agree, the US does spend too much, so I would love to see the US pull out of NATO, close every base in Europe and leave Western Europe on its own to deal with Uncle Vlad. I would also have a certain level of schadenfreude as I watched the EU financially collapse inside of a year as local economies collapse be they no longer have an influx of American dollar tax revenue, and national economies collapse as they try to figure out how to keep their HHS spending while at the same time trying to increase their defense budgets to cover what the American taxpayer had been shouldering for the last 60+ years."

My main thing is this. People must think this is the best country in the world to continue voting for shitty candidates. Every 4 years we have the choice to vote between two totally corrupt officials and somehow the population gets the idea that between the worst of the worst in one department and the worst of the worst the other department we can vote for one and despite all their wrong doings and horrible contributions the people of America will get up and fix all the problems anyway. At the end of the day regardless of all the ignorant spoiled brats that have no idea who they are voting for but vote for the person anyway as though its some celebrity game the guy will be a George Bush or Obama or Trump I swear every decade the choices get worst and worst and despite the assholes trying to rig Congress with their own party officials and get rid of everyone else for total power and dominance hard working good Americans get up and go to work and build the roads and schools and bridges and restaurants and houses and hospitals and get basically no credit for it. Yet it happens. All under the banner of freedom of speech fair protests under quarantines the right to challenge jobs and wages wether they ever change or not the right is there and Americans take full advantage of it. No country has the economy we have at least individually perhaps Asia as a whole or Europe as a whole beats our as ass but US vs any other country no country has our economic growth and movie industry and stock market etc. Now in other countries people take decisions more seriously. Who they vote for. What they do. Where they work. What laws go into effect. They appreciate what they have greater because these countries will fuck them for their seldom ability to chose they must chose well. They have stronger family values but most of their family members dream of retiring in this country.
Other countries have better sectors then the US. Japan probably has better technology. Switzerland has better healthcare and minimum wage etc. People are nicer and more respectful at least in general. Growing up as a kid is probably much better. But in whole our country just reigns supreme all these other super power cities like London, Paris, Mexico City, Sau Paulo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo they all look up to us.
But in truth the main reason I keep thinking this is the best country is the retarded population that keeps voting for an evil tyrant President in order to spout their mouth off in conversations about how politically correct they are regardless of the consequences of catering to a 2 party system. Yet we always turn out alright. Somehow in a situation where the cost of living is ridiculous and wages support like 10% of the average rent vs wages in the 1970s supporting at the very least the total rent somehow 15 people crowd into one place everyone pitches in and the rent gets paid and a few people may even make it to college and get their own place. The US is a ridiculous country but everyone has some chance some fucked up way to get a sandwich even the homeless can bum enough money for some heroin to warm them through the night.
If anything I think the US takes everything for granted and prices the fuck out of a basic day to look like only Bill Gates can only really afford to live comfortably here.
If other countries had the free speech laws we have and due process in court we have I would move anywhere in a second no questions asked pick up and get the fuck out. The major issues with the US are people fucking shitting all over all the freedoms we are given constantly and non stop government corruption and spoiled brats pretending the problems don't exist and living their life in a politically correct manner for popularity.
The US is the older spoiled brat brother that will beat your ass if you say anything bad but he works harder then anyone else and has a nicer house and if you go with any of the other siblings good luck getting any type of leniency. The US is a motherfucking pain in the ass bully but will share his plate with you at a least a little and let you sulk in the corner and talk shit a little after he beats your ass and if you claim any of the other siblings are better then him he will just be like "go ahead and go live with one of those fuck ass motherfuckers then" and most people don't and he might even let you watch and touch yourself as he makes out with his girlfriend.
The basic argument for the US being the best country is like that scene in Don't Be a Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood where Ash Tray complains to his under aged dad about charging $13 for giving him a hair cut claiming the Korean dude down the street only charges $7 and Chris Rock or whoever the actor is replies to him "well take your ass down the street and let him fuck your head up for $7 then" so Ash Tray says "nah its cool I will let you cut me" then Chris Rock says "all fixed up padna give me my $13"
