He’s also implying that trump isn’t responsible for the economic situation. We’ve lost 40 million jobs because trump ignored and downplayed the threat of the virus, and he’s still doing it 125,000 dead people later. Americans are now pariahs around the world.

I still don't understand what Trump could have done to prevent the job losses.  Sure, he could have done a better job of having tests and respirators available, but the job losses are the result of the country actually doing something (keeping people home).  Can anyone please help me understand?

The man who takes credit for everything good that happens under his watch is also responsible for the bad shit that happens under his watch.

This situation in this country is far worse than anywhere else in the developed world and a lot of that has to do with the complete incompetence of the federal response.

I agree but also the traditional American values of personal freedom, right to protest, no censorship of the media were a huge disadvantage for the country of this size. This will not win me friends here but China is running much better software for dealing with a pandemic

Remember when ebola needed to be stopped by the federal government, and obama knocked it out of the park? And now a much faster spreading virus, which can cause a more long term impact on our healthcare system (ebola will kill you, coronavirus can cause permenant damage that you deal with for years after the fact) and its up to the states? Dump chooses his battñes in a way that he never has to try and achieve anything, and squeeze some praise out of doing nothing. I mean hes only built three new miles of wall everything else has been fixing existing structures or replacing them with his shittier wall.

So you have no idea what Trump could have done to stop the spread of coronavirus, yet you're asking everyone to make believe with you that it's his fault because he takes credit for some of the good things that happen under his watch?

Count me out of your make believe club, as always.

He could tell his brain dead supporters to wear a fuckig mask. No leadership whatsoever

He should issue a nationwide mandatory mask order. But he won’t. Because he’s a weak pathetic loser.

He’s tweeted a dozen times about protecting statues. Not a thing about protecting people.

Wearing a mask is the bare minimum, so it’s no surprise this is where we’ve set the bar.

Covid deaths were always going to spike in the US because we don’t have a functional healthcare system, let alone a safety net program in general, and the ruling class was never going to shutter their businesses in order to save lives of working people.

I don't think Trump could have stopped the epidemic but a leaders job is to project empathy, confidence and inspiration. This produces a sense of unity and purpose in people which in turn does have tangible effects. Churchill's personality is what carried the Brits through the hard times, Trump's crisis leadership value is negative.

Of course the media were always out to get him which did not help. Also, in retrospect, the US were fucked from the beginning with our worship of individualism. China just executed a full lockdown of 400,000 people after 18 cases - it may be authoritarian but it works.

:whathesaid:

Exactly, it's very convenient to blame Trump for the US being a massive failure in this case, but it wouldn't matter who was in office because of the factors listed above.

I agree, Trump made a shitty situation even worse. That's why he needs to go, constantly trolling about the most serious global pandemic in human history doesn't cut it.

He also should have never started the whole fake news thing . It’s one thing if people don’t want to believe he committed a crime but those news outlets that criticize him also convey  life saving info to public in times of a crisis . We needed everyone to listen to the experts and come together but instead we got a large portion of the population resisting thinking its all a deep state conspiracy against their unfairly treated guy .

Dude, the amount of fake news spread by the mainstream media is ridiculous.  Yes, they tell the truth a good majority of the time, but that's no excuse for all the fake news.

There has always been fake news, people are just more cognizant (a tiny but growing faction) of it now. People have never had access to information on this scale, in history.

Have there ever been so many media outlets in American history? People are either addicted or bombarded.

Fake news is in overdrive now that we are under 6months from the election. Its coordinated banning of anyone who isnt extreme left.

This is going to backfire spectacularly.  Trump 2020 and beyond!  Finish the wall!

White House lied again. Trump was briefed on the Russian bounties.

GOP lawmaker who got the briefing says the president was made aware of the Intel in a written brief in late February

The bounties were never verified and appear to be more fake news.  The White House Press Secretary said this in a press briefing:

"While the White House does not routinely comment on alleged intelligence or internal deliberations, the CIA Director; NSA — National Security Advisor; and the Chief of Staff can all confirm that neither the President nor the Vice President were briefed on the alleged Russia — Russian bounty intelligence.

There is no consensus within the intelligence community on these allegations"
