Hey tyg havent heard from you in a while. Yeah I'm suprised it worked so well.
Agar is actually really easy to learn. Once you have the the things you need its great. I'll chat to you more about it later.

I'm probably going to grab the bag of verm. I'm still not sure if i will keep going with charcoal or not but i should at least try verm to see what i prefer. Then look into buying bulk supply. Though i do think charcoal will be good for woodlovers.

Check out the traders mentioned before in this thread. If they use paypal then you should be sweet. I don't see the need to be super stealthy. Just use your judgement. Check out their reviews. Good luck and welcome to the thread.

But check the marketplace sometimes they do free giveaways.
I have never had a problem on here and have had them come from all over the globe.
Shaman australis is good too, send Mike Roscopy a msg, he also has a post in the buy/swap/sell forum (have dealt with this guy before, ships from within Australia and never had an issue.

I'm not going to abandon charcoal altogether, just think i should try most teks out to learn and see the differences.

These are the jars now. All but the biggest one is 100% colonised or close to it.



The two that i spawned to bulk seem to be coming along well. Two salsa jars in a dialled in mono like Pastys. 1:1 ratio of brf+charcoal to coir.




And my b+ on wbs/coir finally have pins!! 12 days from from spawning to bulk.




Hey spaztastic, any growth on your charcoal/LC powder yet?

did you add charcoal in with the coir in the bulk? keen to give that a go.

No just straight coir. I'm running low on charcoal atm so kept it simple.

Need to go to bunnings but waiting on centrelink to approve my claim. :hillbilly:
Though it's parenting payment not job seeker so it's going to take forever :whateverhuman:

Harvest day!! Or at least half of them.



Didn't think they would be ready until tonight or tomorrow but nope they wait for no one.



I only picked the ones where i could see the veil dropped. This is whats left.



Especially as most of them are pretty small. It's hard to weigh them as I don't have any micro scales but the small ones are all around 1gram. The biggest was 5g and combined is 66g.



So expecting around the same tomorrow which should be total 1st flush weight around 130g.

These guys are my favorites. All warped and funky.



Update tonight. Came home and the rest were ready for picking.


Total weight 142g and the bulk sub after harvest with lots more pins waiting.

Everytime I check back on this thread there's another nugget of gold!

Well done on the harvest AyEyDiZed. I rate the Charcoal simply for the contast between Substrate and Myc.

Waiting in anticipation for the comparison jars!

Check out my grow log for more pics of charcoal. The first batch of them were harvested last night.

Already dehydrated and even made a tea that's going in the freezer (i read there's a difference between dried and fresh shrooms in tea).
Left jar is Texas Orange Cap, middle is b+ and right jar is wild pan cyans picked in summer.

I have noticed some places are selling denatured ethanol for decent prices given the circumstances. Prices are still nowhere near normal but you can get 5L tubs on eBay with free delivery for $80 or $90.

Oh and it seems that Le Beauty has isopropyl back in stock for an even better price (given the circumstances). 5L for $70 and with free shipping. There's a 10% off voucher code displayed at the top too. 5L would last you AGES and as production has ramped up I'm sure prices will start to drop even more in the coming months so you might not want to buy more than needed.
