Got off my twelve hour graveyard shift at 7am so I stopped at Freddy’s for some tin foil. They had a great sale so I bought five  also found some shoeboxes on sale for later projects.

Oh yeah.. More cakes  & three more about to get dunked before bed.

Damn you use name brand, I use the store brand so long as it is heavy duty.

Was only $2.32 each if you bought five. I noticed the off brand has a tendency to rip on me..

Damn that's not a bad deal. Personally the only issue I have with store brands is the box. Its flimsy and cause some issues when tearing the sheet. I don't have issues with the foil tearing so long as I get heavy duty.

How to recycle heavy duty aluminum foil

1. Cut a piece twice the size you need
2. Fold it in half
3. Fold the edges over so theyover lap twice.
4. Contine double folding the edges clock wise.
5. Pieces large enough for quart jars work on mini round pasty plates and big lots pp5 containers

I see more with shoeboxes at a 1:1 dry out then a 1:2 obviously

For me and my conditions and weird shoeboxes I have to mist almost constantly too keep it from drying out.

That said I pull the spray bottle out every other day or 3 for monos I only mist until I see my first pin then let them go.

:whathesaid:

I wasn't even thinking about shoeboxes, was talking about tubs. Small subs def dry out way faster.

Van this is not aimed at you, its just going to make it look like I replied to you.

I really don't care that I am putting in a little extra work. Why you ask, well because at least NOW I am not farming mold. It is attention to detail that helps us learn. If people need to mist a lot, leave them alone or tell them how to fix the fruiting chamber so they don't have to mist so much.

This is a forum for discussion, 'leave them alone' is something you'd say to a bully, and no bullying has taken place here. I got loud and flashy with TBC, but believe it or not I was half joking, although I really think overmisting is becoming a problem for a lot of people.

I don't think it's a matter of really needing to mist a lot in most cases nor a matter of needing to fix the FC, even a half assed FC will do.
The way I see it, if someone fruits a monotub and really needs to mist a lot it's more than likely a matter of prepping the sub on the very dry side or a failure to follow simple instructions from any monotub tek, like for instance, people taking the lid off very often and needing to mist a lot for that very reason, with the intention of improving surface conditions which very often ends up having the opposite effect.

Yea I aint got time for all that folding and unfolding, lol. I go through about 60 no pour glad mini rounds a week. I just couldn't bring myself to trying to save 60 pieces of foil. Not a bad idea if your not running a bunch of stuff though.

Josex it was not you. I don't point out people usually, I will just say I saw something that was rather pushy about it. What I was meaning is if you don't like how they do it that's fine. You can either leave them to do it the way they are or help them to improve. I see some post from others border lining on ridicule because people baby their grows. I see nothing wrong with someone wanting to take care of their grow and get the most out of it. I see others talking about, wouldn't you want to get the most out of your grow, well this is how some of us are doing it. It is just another method. Is it needed, probably not but many things we do in life are not needed but we do it because that is how we like to do it.

If you feel like you're house is so dry that you need to mist a lot, just give a casing layer a try. Keeps the myc happily out of sight and out of your mind. Much easier to stop impulsively misting it if you can't see it.

---

Harvest day. Unmodded 32qt gasket box using a little over 3qts wheat spawn. Cased and fruited with a flipped lid at spawn, misted a few times when the casing got a little too dry. Did the Bodhisatta style float to harvest. Couldn't have been easier.

Yielded a clean 965 grams wet (no giant clumps of substrate included in the weight...).

Ther is nothing wrong with misting as long as it is needed. I enjoy spending time takeing care of them. Hell so long as it keeps me in the 400 to 500 grams wet per quart on 1st flush, I will keep at it, if it is needed. My mono tubs don't seem to need it but my shoeboxes do even with a casing as it drys out.

You can just pinch a tiny bit of casing between your fingers to see if it's still hydrated...If it gets dry you mist.

I have been pushing my culture with lots of fae which in turn can require more missting. That's how I went from gettin 5-600g wet 1st flush to getting 8-900g wet 1str flush, from 2qt spawn. What I am doing definatly works. I don't have to do this with mono tubhs, only shoeboxes. My grow room has constant forced warm air going into it, and the shoeboxes will dry if I don't mist a couple times a day
