we don't know shit! will we ever?...nobody can tell you or me this. life is something special. we all live it and should learn to love it. life is all we have so lets live it up. humans can't concieve a beginning of the universe or an eternal universe. this just isn't in our realm of conception. i will search for my heaven on earth because nobody can tell us if heaven exists outside of earth. live it and love it my friends.

A greater being, or God, is something that our minds may have created in the process of trying to comprehend these things. There is a possibility that God, a "higher" being could exist and some other being higher than God etc etc. As you say, many people are very narrow-minded not accepting that God exists but here you must remember that the people that accept God's existance blindly, are narrow-minded too because they have no real, strong proof of his/hers/its existance. There are some things that with our current state of mind, we simply can not understand, like what happened before the Big Bang, so finally what I'm saying is to be aware of all the possibilities that we can conciously think of, one of them is God to exist, and if it makes us happy, investigate in the subject, if not, don't worry too much.
P.S.:I'm starting to miss my childhood nowdays...No worries, NO WORRIES FOR NOTHING, just pure feelings. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I find religion more believable than many aspects of science.

Edit: Im just going to add that I think all matter as energy vibrating at the lowest (or a really low) speed.

Non-exsistence and existence are really part of the same process of becoming.

We 'see' particles because we measure them within a given context and interpret their meaning from this context. We must be careful no to fall into the trap of linear thinking. All of creation has already happened but we determine how it ends (pretty self-contradicting, haha).

No, think of a woobly pice of jelly, that is only dependent upon itself. Its boundaries are not defined. We sit in the middle and shake it! Really we are the jelly and the jelly is alive!!:oogle:

Past, present and future are all happening at the same time. Or alternatively; the past does not exist, the future does not exist, thus the slice of present in between past and future does not exist. Existence and non-existence are the same...

What you are saying implies that everything that is to be done is already done and every path that we choose to follow has already being chosen and hence we as human race, have no power and are just mere puppets. That is a possibility. But I believe that there is some other possibility. I think that present does not exist, you can not choose a specific moment. When you take a picture, its not present what you get but a space in present, thus there is only future and past. That does not imply that we are left with no choice though. It is a different property of time.

I did not say that... Whom are we puppets to? We are the jelly streching form past to future. We have the power to shake the jelly (which is done from the present) as the jelly is really us. This implies that the jelly is not fixed (past and future are not static).
Although the jelly at any given time is continuous and coherent, from past to future.

There is no reflection of the present if thats what you mean. The present is action, the action of becoming, the link between non-existence and existence.

I say we determine what point in space the universe is expanding from and go there. That is if we survive long enough withough getting hit by a stupid comet or astroid. I belive many civilizations much like ours have sprouted in this Galaxy and possibly this planet. Many of them might have even surpased our current evolutionary state. But eventually matter colides in space and civilizations go extinct. We either start making a plan to expand across our solar system and galaxy, or let all of our research and technology burn in vain. Only for another Sentient lifeform to sprout somewhere else, look at the stars and wonder whats above the atmosphere, wonder what shape their planet is, worship their sun and moon.

Will all that we have learned about Planets, stars, atoms, quarks electrons and so on simply vanish??? Or will we migrate and populate the glaxy, form intergalactic trade and finally discover why is it we are here??? What do you think??? :stoned:

A model of the universe would be that we live on a 4-D surface of a balloon that is constantly expanding. If you want to get to the center of the balloon I suggest you consume more shrooms :wink:

What The_Visionaire is saying here is that there is no center of expansion.

If you take a balloon and put a bunch of dots on it, and then blow up the balloon...which of the dots is at the center of expansion? None...they all expand away from eachother equally. The "center" of the expansion lies off of the balloon surface.

So imagine our universe (like The_Visionaire said) as a 4-D balloon, and we are living on the 3-D "surface" of this balloon. So the center of expansion of our universe lies outside of normal 3-D space.

Any direction you look in from the Milky Way, you will see that all other galaxies are expanding away from us (aside from a few close ones which are under mutual gravitational pull).

Just wanted to throw this in as another way of explaining Hubble's observations...
Imagine the entire universe as a balloon. As the balloon expands with air, all points on the balloon's surface move further from each other. Make sense?

If we can see the Universe expanding then we are inside of it not on the surface, as you said.
