For me, given the general tone of the forum of late. I tend to approach everything in life this way; it's all best guess only. About the only thing I can be sure of in any way is the content of my thoughts and physical sensations, but then I know they're often bullshit and completely impermanent too.

It really is a lot harder to admit that you know nothing, to make estimations & best guesses only, than staying fixed to some standpoint.

It will only destroy what you are not.

We are born entirely 'ignorant' of existence in the sense that it means to not know but we were able to learn of its existence through the accumulation of time, experience, effort and memories.

Absolutely. Remaining willfully ignorant is easier than admitting you're wrong though, which is why I believe so many do. Humans are fucking lazy it seems. Myself included.

I value the truth so there's no point in lying, the memory of lies is a burden I don't want to carry.

More often than not I don't want to carry the burden of truth but I value it so I do.

Agree.  Yet if we condemn another's view as fos isn't that saying we know something we don't?

RAW had it right imo when he said something like. I know nothing for sure but I have many suspicions

We all, at times at least think our best guess is closest to the truth but in our best moments we doubt it.  But I see no reason in not going with our best guess as opposed to someone else's.

How would you know what that "truth" is? How do you know what you believe is true is truth?

Precisely. This seems to have been somewhat of a theme round here of late.

Also agree wholeheartedly. Although it is always worth giving space to consider anothers best guess IMO, weighing up against our own, based on our experiences (or lack of). This takes a great deal of effort, awareness and mindfulness though IME.

'tis much easier to be the proverbial 'bull in a china shop'. I remember being that way. Ignorance, for me in my younger years, was bliss. Easy bliss. But so missing the point.

Because I told an electroencephalograph to tone down while connected to it and it did so within seconds.

With subjective objectivity or beliefs.

You can bring the quantum mechanical phenomena of " collapsing the wave function" into this. This is governed by probability though. A lot of this creating your own reality stuff is BS in my opinion!

I say all this because I think I've been testing the collapsing of emotional wave functions.

It is governed by probability but there are formulas in existence to be discovered for it.

Radio waves and electrical conductivity were pseudoscience until they weren't.

You think you've been testing?  Doesn't sound too convincing.  You gotta say hell yeah I'm researching it and then you can fuck with shit and nobody can fucking say jack.  You are researching, this is important shit and you can keep doing it until you figure out just why.

Over time I have read posts, theories and papers here and there on the web, concerning the subject of reality and how it is an illusion and how we shape our own reality, basically all of our perceptive senses and our mind shape our own personal reality... This thread should focus around the idea that reality is the box and ways to exit or change said box.

reality is if we  hunting in Africa
and Joe yells lion
Joe has the best eye sight
and tracking abilities of the group
and everybody runs
and then we look down
and sure enough there is a lion.

one day Joe yells lion
everybody runs except Mary
Mary gets eaten.

next day Joe yells lion
are you going to run?,
or stand there and preach sloppism?
or preach quantum wave functions?
or argue about anything?

as the rest of the group ran
they all shat all over their legs
with fear, as they ran, cause
you run faster with an empty stomach;
(that's why it's called being scared shitless!)
now everybody's up in the tree stinking
like shit, but glad to be alive,
that's human reality

That only proofs that we are programmed to stay alive. It doesnt even matter if the lion is real or not. Nobody is gonna take the risk and find out. You are convinced that the lion is real and thats all that matters.

If modern realism is pragmatic; it is a dialogue that says either look before you leap, or maybe follow my lead.

There are some people today who think that describing something practical is moral or fable. I think this is questionable. For example, when people say modern science says this or science says that, by some narrative, it is a little bit over-general.

Science as a whole is an empirical methodology that corresponds to nature, and that gap, and correspondence is really important but it does not cleave together in simple narrative. The methodology and mechanical way of evoking natural phenomenon discovered in Galileo's time, and then Newton's time in particular, reflects nature/cosmology. Yet at the same time it does not, as we know. For that reason we should avoid overenthused narratives of the sort.

When we try to naturalize realism or science, it becomes pragmatism, and a way of describing certain gap and leap. This prerogative leaves a lot of freedom, it recommends to look before you leap, or perhaps follow a lead.

Another way to put it (just to throw it out there in certain terms):

Quote:
Pragmatism as a philosophical tradition began in the United States around 1870.[1] Charles Sanders Peirce, generally considered to be its founder, later described it in his pragmatic maxim:

"Consider the practical effects of the objects of your conception. Then, your conception of those effects is the whole of your conception of the object.”

Pragmatism rejects the idea that the function of thought is to describe, represent, or mirror reality.
[3] Instead, pragmatists consider thought an instrument or tool for prediction, problem solving and action. Pragmatists contend that most philosophical topics—such as the nature of knowledge, language, concepts, meaning, belief, and science—are all best viewed in terms of their practical uses and successes. The philosophy of pragmatism “emphasizes the practical application of ideas by acting on them to actually test them in human experiences”.

There is a "gap" in the narrative.

Obviously without lions, human reaction time has been short circuited by an over active noggin. More and more nearsightedness too, tell your kids to go into optometry. Eskimos never wore glasses, guess any contact with really hard facts will do, to keep a species fit.
Woody Allen brought a sense of humor to philosophy, without which it seems like matzah. He also managed to get laid a lot while laughing at his own lack of fitness. Dude was a genius. But I thought the NYC relationship movies were a low point.
I always thought Cassius Clay the boxing champ, owed part of his success to having an abnormally fast reaction time. Of course he was big, strong, smart, etc. But check out the old movies, dude was fast, real fast. Rest of us are snails. We live in an age of snails with a population that takes surreal politicians that are parodies of themselves seriously!
Woody where are you? Woody where are you? Woody where are you?

Woody where are you?

Hmm well all I have is my anecdote of experience. And I gear myself to it. I look to live in my senses, and for a conception of human experience, but it seems my experience will never be ascribed and set out so much as it is experienced. Although I think all is conditioned also think intellectual thought upon my own conditioning, and my culture's conditioning is important...

Are you experienced? :rocket:
