Ok, do you believe we should've invaded then?

Obviously we didn't invade then because even tho he was killing people he was still our friend.

Why do you continue. I mean no offence here I value your input, yet you seem to be directing questions at me that you should be asking those who made these decisions.

I WAS NOT THE GOVERNMENT THEN & IM NOT THE GOVERNMENT NOW

Quote:
3. White House officials assert that Iraq has been training terrorists. True or False.

False. Iraq did support a terrorist network prior to 1983, but in that year the U.S. offered to provide support for Baghdad in its war against Iran on condition that it withdraw support from the network. There is no evidence it has resumed.

This is misleading. While it may be true there is no longer an Iraqi terrorist group. Iraq still supports other terrorist groups the PLS are an example of this and you will find many more that he was willing to harbour.

I've proved the way its phrased is misleading, the PLS and PLO are palestinian organisations that have been shown to have links terrorism. Not openly of course.
Abu Abbas was a member of the PLS and was found hiding in Iraq he was actually given transport to go and vote with PLO. Im sure if you look you'll find more examples of Iraq harbouring terrorists.
The source suggests that Iraq has had no terrorist links since 1983 which in untrue.

Whilst paying the families of suicide bombers is supporting terrorism it is not the same as supporting a terrorist network within Iraq which is how I read the claim! Keep trying!!

Terrorist links arn't exactly unusual tho. The american based NORAID was funding the IRA for decades, not to mention CIA support for the nightmarish contra terrorists, as well as approval for the genocide in East Timor and a list as long as your arm. It's a safe bet to say the USA has supported far more terrorists than Saddam.

If the CIA could have pinned anything remotely connected to terrorism on Saddam before the war they would have.

The question doesn't even mention terrorist networks, the reponse does therefore I am correct.

I know of America's links to terrorism, im not justifying them simply pointing out Iraq had terrorist links, which after the events of 9/11 could be considered a possible justification for war.

I can't remember either the US or the UK making anything of Saddams terrorist links before the war. The reason pushed was the imminent threat posed by WMD.

Again, no one from the US at least, claimed there was an imminent threat.

what do you think? is the information here factual?

well I found one piece of corroborating evidence about the satellite photos:

http://www.iraqwar.org/bush.htm

as for the other stuff, I have no reason to believe that there are any lies there since most of it cites other sources like the CIA so it would be easy to check out. some of it I know to be fact like the slant drilling by the Kuwaitis, the fact that the Iraqi army was retreating when we attacked them in '91, the no-fly zones being imposed by the US, not the UN and a few other facts mentioned. it seems to be pretty accurate as far as I can tell.

yeah Bush might not have used the exact words "imminent threat" but he did all he could to portray Iraq that way. do you deny that he was doing this?

heres an exerpt from one of his speeches:

Bush asserted that Iraq could have a nuclear weapon in less than a year, although U.S. intelligence agencies issued a report on Friday placing the timeframe at 2010.

"Knowing these realities, America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof ? the smoking gun ? that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud," Bush said.

btw, that was a perfect example of our president leading by fear, something he's very good at.

Again, he still never said Iraq was an imminent threat, as libbies so often claim. He said we should not wait until Saddam was an imminent threat.

wtf are you talking about? I don't think anyone here claimed that Bush said that Iraq was an imminent threat. the exact quote was: "The reason pushed was the imminent threat posed by WMD". which is pretty accurate. nowhere did he claim that those were Bush's words.

Actually several here have claimed he called Iraq an imminent threat.

And as shakta has pointed out several times.... he said no such thing yet the claims keep coming.
