who are you to say it is NOT a case of a combination of delusions, hoaxes, outright lies for attention, and a few small cases of people who've seen something they can't explain?


edit: it also has been REALLY fucking trendy to be in the "I believe in and/or was abducted by alien spacecraft visiting earth" thing. ever since science FICTION writers started imagining... the public did too.

The reason why they have seen the same thing is partly because they have all seen the same ufo/alien clich? imagery in the media. And partly because there is an old and strong tendency among humans to anthropomorphize everything that is mysterious. That's why people invented thunder gods, volcano gods, leprechauns etc and believed in such things for thousands of years instead of using the scientific method from the start.

Mass delusions are more common than we like to think. Consider the reports from parts of West Africa about how witches steal penises from innocent men by shaking their hand or by mumbling a magic incantation.

And many chinese men think that eating powdered rhinoceros horn really increases sexual potency. Do their strength in numbers make their belief more true?

Regarding the Travis Walton case, I don't know what the real truth is, but after reading this australian article I am a little suspicious about the claims that were made. Let me inline one quote from the article about the polygraph test that was made:

The kid had failed the test miserably. The polygraph man said it was the plainest case of lying he'd seen in 20 years but the office was yelling for another expert and a different result

Hoaxes are in fact perpetrated in this "business" sometimes.

Why would a government that is proven to hold and classify information on this subject make a hoax to bring attention to it?

In the Walton Incedent there were 4 witnesses, there were some anomalies with the lie detector test but you really should read the book and llok at the bigger picture.

Albino Jesus, You make me laugh? U kinda missed the point! So your saying you actually beleive abduction to be a trendy phenomena!! How many people have you talked to about this, most people I know are to scared by its very concept to even talk about it.

I mean how many people have a condition that makes them think the mafia are abducting them and taking sperm samples?

Many people think aliens abducted them because aliens have been in the media a lot. If you look at the figures you can see there was a huge increase in "abductions" when Sci-Fi became popular and started to write about abductions.

People don't have this condition because they never read a story about this and never heard about this.

People who recall abductions under hypnosis usually fall victim to the greedy hypnotist. They suggest things like "did you see an alien?". Under hypnosis you will say yes. Why would they do this? Because if you believe it you will come back to the hypnotist and pay him more money to do his thing.

Where is the proof that the government has classified info on this? They have classifies info on their own research yes. Like they did on stealth.

I believe in aliens, I just don't believe they are here. If aliens were powerful enough to build these ships, then why would they hide? If aliens hide because they want to study us then why would they leave the light in their ship on?
How do you know you didn't see fireflies?
Please answer this.

Also if you could see aliens as easy as you say, don't you think SETI would be busy with this. Their whole goal is to discover intelligent alien life. Or is SETI just some government conspiracy?

Have you ever been hypnotized? It is an exploration of subconscious memory.

We have essentially four mindstates or brain frequencies in which we perceive reality. That is, alpha, beta, theta, delta. Alpha is a sort of trance state, such as when you are driving or meditating. Beta is when you are focused in physical reality.. like having a conversation, shaking someone's hand.. theta is the frequency between awake and asleep, delta is the dream state. 4th and 5th dimensional beings, such as the highly evolved cosmic travellers, do not exist in a beta reality, that frequency is not available to them. Being as how most of our 'valid experiences' occur in beta reality, we are prone to discarding experiences in other states.. the states these beings are able to enter. Meeting aliens involves more than them landing and stepping out of the ship and shaking our hand. That is beta reality. They have taken the first step by making their presence known, and we must take the next step to meet them in the middle. Ego has a lot to do with it, as it generally shuns the presence of non-physical (or in this case higher-vibrational) beings. It threatens the ego's sense of self, so it refuses to perceive that vibration. Regardless, the presence is felt, and that memory is stored in the subconscious. In fact, at this time, all encounters with 'aliens' are experienced and remembered only in the subconscious. This is to protect the fragile ego. As such, memories linger in the subconscious, eventually surfacing in conscious thought. The first step is dissolving the layers between conscious and subconscious mind.

They aren't hiding, we refuse to embrace their reality. Only by meeting in the middle, as equal beings of the universe in love and wonder will there ever be a first contact. They aren't gods and don't want to be seen as such, and we humans, seeing telepathic beings coming from the sky will naturally hail them as some type of god. They aren't. That's why they aren't in our conscious memory, because we attach an archetypal heirarchy to it, and hail them as 'higher'. They aren't higher, we are god, so are they, we're both manifestations of consciousness on individual paths of evolution.

Seti is a bunch of bullshit, designed to cover the fact that alien life had already been communicated with. Alien beings who have the capability to travel through light years of space in anti-gravity ships, do not use such a primitive frequency as RADIO WAVES.

Where do you come up with this? Radio waves are merely part of the electromagnetic spectrum as is light. Makes as much sense as saying that blue is a primitive color.

Sorry, this is untrue. They have been in the media alot in the past 20-30 years. What about the tribe of humans who hail the UFO and grey alien as their god, I saw a documentary on this.

Pictures of aliens and ufos have been depicted everywhere throughout history on all continents. This is not an idea from the media.

You are right that abductions did become popular at the same time but did u consider that people where scared to tell anyone. You've already been abducted, you tell a few close friends, they react badly, you never tell anyone else. Until the social stigma starts to drop! The rise is because people have been able to tell the truth, as some others can now accept.

I can't be arsed to get u the proof, look yourself if u care. Maggie Thatcher admitted when she was British Prime Minister "There is secret information to do with UFOs which they won't let me discuss publicly."
The American government classified/destroyed all information to do with the Roswell crash doesn't this seem strange for a balloon.
Theres tons of proof the government hide UFO information. Researchers have been campaining for them to release their old UFO evidence for a long time!

No offence but you people really are delusional. I mean 4th and 5th dimension? Where do you get this stuff? That's just silly. That would be like us visiting the second dimension. Which would mean we would have to be squashed to become 2d. Using a fifth dimension as argument is just lame in my opinion
Also for someone who is experienced in psychedelics I find you are to easily convinced by the mind. If taking a few chemicals can alter our perception this drastically don't you think other weird things can happen in the brain? Or do you think the things we see on psychedelics are also real? Science is telling us how unreliable our brain is. They have even found centers in the brain which cause a religious or spiritual experience.
Abductions can be easily explained by either dreaming or in more serious cases by sleep-paralyses. In the fucked up cases, people just lie to get attention or to belong to the "believers" group.
Just look at old times when witches and seamonsters were partly accepted by society. There were tons of sightings of these creatures then. Now there still are Loch Ness, Chupacabra and Bigfoot sightins. Or do you believe in these to?

How can you make this generalisation? If they came from the sky or just communicated with us in a normal and sensical way I wouldn't believe they were gods because I don't believe in god, I would just believe they'd have really advanced technology.

If they wanted to communicate with us they would show their precense in a scientifically provable way. Because I and many people like me won't accept aliens out of faith, a dream, a vision, psychosis or a dot of light in the sky.

About these brain states. I only believe the one I am in now as a state where real perception takes place. I am open for the concept of telepathic communication (because I have seen research on EM waves that can alter our brainwaves, so why couldn't we communicate through more advanced machines). But why would aliens employ such a technique if they could convince us much more easily through direct communication.

How could we ever be equal beings if you claim they have super-developed technology, telepathic abilities and live in the 4th and/or 5th dimension. We and our mental capabilities would be to them like bugs are to us. This sentence makes no sense to me.

You might call radiowaves primitive but the point of SETI is that each civilization goes through a phase maybe a thousand years or a thousand millenia in which they utilise radio waves. So if they are from thousands of light years away their old radio signals should be reaching us now.

You say they are cosmic travellers who have faster than light ships and who originated in the 4th and 5th dimension. Why would these guys need to travel through our dimension? Our dimension is puny to them. Like the 2nd dimension is to us. If they are from a fifth dimension it would be logical to assuma they can enter our dimension at any point they like, so they wouldn't need to travel.

I believe Thatcher was talking about a secret organization in Britain that was supposed to investigate UFO claims. This organization has now been dismantled. And they never found proof btw.
Please show me a historical picture of a gray from history. It would be logical to assume that some people of old would believe in UFO's because they could also see meteors, fireflies, comets etc.
These people believed in this stuff because they had no science to debunk it. People who believe in visitors now are like people who believed in witches.

Actually there is no chance we could detect radio broadcasts similar to our own from a distance of more than about 0.1 light years. SETI is based on the assumption that there are civilizations out there who are pointing strong narrow beams of radio signals directly at us in order for us to discover them.

Well, geez. There I was thinking that's maybe what it was, but then you said it wasn't with absolutely no evidence to back it up. Are you or any of your friends astronomers? Do you have any real education on the topic of studying and analysing the night sky?

Do you honestly believe that professionals who do this for a living don't see the shit you've seen on a regular basis and have logical explanations for it?

The only reason you're believing this is because you want to believe. You have no solid evidence, your only argument is that you can't prove it's NOT an alien.

This is a stupid, stupid, stupid post.

This is no more logical than "The earth is obviously flat, just look around you."

danoEoboy, about your test. I will happily take it. I'm going to one of the islands in northern Holland on the 11th of August. The skies are really clear there. I can see sattelites etc. Now if I sit on the beach for 2 hours do you think I will see activity?
