the dilemma of the semi-genius/renaissance man...

what if one correctly perceives that they have the potential to be extremely successful and achieve expertise in a variety of human endeavors.....if only they were to settle on just a few.

can one be a professional athlete, musician, actor, artist, mathematician, linguist, physicist, engineer, architect, doctor, lawyer, just to name a few?

how does one arrive at what ever "path" most closely aligns with their "heart" or largest passion.....when everything seems to have it's own unique appeal? how does one realize their forte?

but what if the route's curiosity becomes to "dreamy" in a sense.....i mean that the curiosity becomes so rampant that the walker of the route becomes scatter-brained.

This definately is a dilemma. I think there is too much stuff in the world at the moment for one person to learn about it ALL to a functional level. But I think if you want to be multidisciplinary then you should learn a wide variety of things while at school and college. Then stick with something until you can have security from it (financially) unless you are rich, and then branch off and learn other things in the time that you have.

I recommend finding something that interests you and do some research on things that have to do with it.

For example; while I was growing up I loved music, I mean I fucking loved it. Then one day while I was 15 I just so happened to pick up a guitar. Ever since that day creating music has been my passion. I could honestly care less about money. Nothing is more important to me than music

Yea its a work in progress.  I dont see myself every reaching the end, but thats ok - I enjoy the journey, so to speak.

If you go to college be a biomedical engineer :smile:.  You get at least a year of chemistry, biology, physics, psychology, and mathematics.  Great starting point if you're trying to decide what to learn on a functional level.

what's ironic to me as the one is never TRULY GOOD at anything...in all sense of the word.

Maybe you have a very good point here. Maybe instead of trying to grasp it all we should be focusing on a singular thing..BEING. By that i mean....do we even breathe good? do we hold our posture good? do we transport ourselves from point A to B good? Do we even make the decision to move from point A to B good?

Right now I'm in the library studying....and I'm "playing" on this glorious website. Why can't I submit to my own will and do the things I came to do?

Why can't I submit to anything? Why do I exert my being in all places and times?

what if I find that the details that make up this "thing" are uninteresting to me....and i almost find it to be a nuisance.

like for instance....i don't want to learn all the mathematics that are involved in sounds waves and how they are produced.

I'd like to understand nature of the universe and the nature of consciousness.  I study the former and my wife studies the latter - its a good way to get a bit of each while only having one lifetime available to study.

How about yourself, anything you specifically want to focus on in that laundry list you first posted?
