lolololol shroud of turin lololol
    #904167 - 09/24/02 09:23 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

my mom is an idiot

or at least, she's a narrowminded bitch who's too emotionally attached to her religion to even listen to criticism of any sort

there's this show on the "history"(    ) channel about the shroud of turin, apparently people on the history channel don't know it was examined and found to be made of paint, or that hoaxing of that sort was very popular at the time it was made....
so I start talking about the show and how they aren't really telling everything they know...
the whole time my mom is like "yeah, uh huh, yeah right" with such a bitchy attitude. she wouldn't even let me finish

I hate her

hmm i wonder where you get your narrowminded bitchy style from?

> too emotionally attached to her religion

you fault her for that?  what is she supposed to be emotionally attached to, science?!  maybe she is an idiot, if so, then she aint gonna become an instant genius.  her faith makes sense to her, all anyone can do is to believe in something that makes sense to them.

its obvious you are smarter than your mom, that isnt a reason to hate her.  its evolution.  children get smarter than their parents, but their parents will always be wiser.

now go run and buy your mom a novelty turin shroud to show how much you love her!!!

erm. I was adopted
and there's a lot more to the hate than the simple fact that she doesn't even listen to anything anyone has to say if it's not in complete agreement with what the pope tells her she's supposed to think

Are you trying to piss AJ off, or what?
There is no way you could come to such a conclusion about her mother without knowing them both.

is she? she considers one aspect of "being an adult" to be "having a steady job"
I consider one aspect of "being an adult" to be "knowing how to have a conversation with people without interrupting them every time they try to make a point, and lying to another person to get them to be on "your side""
my mom is an immature, ignorant child. but at least she's a good consumer.

The Shroud was never found to be made of paint, whoever you heard that from lied to you. However, It was carbon dated and could not be from the time of Christ, the catholic church claimes that the tests were inaccurate because the cloth had been burnt at one point in its existance.

just so you know. oh, and my mom gave birth to me and is a stupid bitch.

"Another scholar to declare the shroud a fake is Walter McCrone, a microchemist. He presents his case in 'Judgment Day for the Shroud of Turin" (March 1999). His thesis is that "a male model was daubed with paint and wrapped in the sheet to create the shadowy figure of Christ." The model was covered in red ochre, "a pigment found in earth and widely used in Italy during the Middle Ages, and pressed his forehead, cheekbones and other parts of his head and body on to the linen to create the image that exists today. Vermilion paint, made from mercuric sulphide, was then splashed onto the image's wrists, feet and body to represent blood." For his work, McCrone was awarded the American Chemical Society's Award in Analytical Chemistry. ."

anyone with half a brain can figure out that one's economic/employment status is irrelevant when concerning "adultness". to her, being an adult is being the picture-perfect-everything-that-most-enlightened-people-hate-about-americans
she is not wise, she's a flawless product of the system.

It is not irrelevant. An adult (by this I mean a emotionally mature individual) will take responsibility for his or her own sustenance, clothing and shelter. Usually this entails being gainfully employed.

usually, yes.
but it really only means "take responsibility for his or her own sustenance, clothing and shelter"
and it can be achieved in many ways, many of which do not involve being employed.
also: if some person is having a hard time finding employment, due to bad economic situations, does this make them less "adult"? no. it's not their fault.
as long as a person is not depending on other people to survive when they are capable of providing for themselves, they're fine. taking care of yourself when you're able to = part of an adult level of maturity, but this woman views only "being a part of the work force" as a main part of "adulltness". i.e. drug dealers or people who practice "voluntary simplicity" are idiot children who should get their shit together and "grow up"
there are many other aspects of having an adult mentality, and I consider one's employment status irrelevant.

yet many, especially her, fail to learn that.
she is not responsible, and she doesn't know how to socialize in any environment other than one in which she is never challenged by anyone

I wouldn't call spending your money on lavish things and then complaining about not having money to buy groceries, in which case you buy yourself a fast-food meal and leave your child to fend for herself with a crackers-and-months-old peanut-butter dinner "responsible". I wouldn't consider making a minor child buy her own deodorant/soap/etc with babysitting money because you can't afford it after spending thousands of dollars on tacky living room furnishings and food dehydrators which you never use, and RV's which you go on vacation once a month with your stupid husband and never take your daughter along, and remodeling the bathroom which was only 8 years old and in perfect functional order because you wanted it to "look nicer" "responsible"
