About this whole marijuana thing... :stash:

First off, marijuana smoke contains no radioactive particles, as cigarettes do. C. Everette Koop, a former Surgeon General, said that it is the radioactivity in cigarette smoke, not the tar, that accounts for 90% of all smoking-related lung cancer. Marijuana does bring the possibillity of cancer in the lungs and throat, but as it is generally not smoked as near as much as cigarettes, it isn't as much of a problem. In fact, THC acts as a bronchial dilator. This allows more oxygen into the lungs. THC is also the best natural expectorant, clearing the lungs of smog, dust, and phlegm. Marijuana is considered to be a great treatment for people with asthma.

All the main psychoactive ingredients of marijuana are neither mutagenic or carcinogenic. I'm just taking stuff from this website, which has a great article if you scroll down to the "ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MARIJUANA USE" part. It is imformative and backed by studies done by respected organizations...  Website

ya, tobac plants tend to accumulate certain metals into their tissue... and the heavy use of agricultural/industrial fertilizers just makes it worse... the chief offender (n terms of just the radioactive stuff, ignoring other heavy metals) is Po210 (polonium decats by releasing an alpha particle) & alphas can't penetrate a sheet of paper, but released into the lungs, they glom into sticky tars & spongy lung tissues to initiate a wicked chain of free-radical reactions, many of which can yield carcinogenic & mutagenic molecules in situ... bad juju...

also, the tobacco industry is the second largest consumer of sucrose (table sugar) which is added as a flavor enhancer & humidifing agent...

& then there's nitrates ("saltpeter" - often added to ensure smooth, non-stop burning) which have their own bunch of nasty chemical reactions...

nicotine & harman & several other interesting alkaloids are found in tobac leaf, but not in hemp flowers...

~

now, let's compare eating hemp with eating tobacco & see who survives the contest, heh...

Now, that is not quite a fair comparison, but if you saw my previous post I said that eating marijuana (in reasonable quantities) is quite safe. It was the smoking of it that I deem a health hazard.

The only point that I am making is that it is unhealthy to regularly breathe in the products of combustion. This is fact.

That's why everyone should get a vaporizer.
