Doing drugs In my sleep....
    #595780 - 04/01/02 08:23 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Terence Mckenna says during the Space Time Continuum cd.......

"And one of the things that I learned about DMT, was that, if you ever had
it, even just once, then you can have a dream. And in this dream somebody
will pull out a little glass pipe, and then it will happen. It will
happen just like the real thing. Because theres a button somewhere inside
each and every one of us that gives you a look into the other side. And
thats the button that resets the compass that tells you where you want to
sail. Good luck!"

So how do people look at the idea of taking drugs while dreaming... Everything is possible in dreams so is their the ability to trip or smoke pot while dream?

With ideas like Lucid dreaming and Projection maybe you could just sit back and smoke a good bowl or 2... I know I'd sure like to smoke some more 5MO in my dreams and I'm not sure if their is enough time to trip commpletely in a dream, but what the hell is time during sleep anyways cuz I don't think time exists when you sleep. Your body has its own clock but your mind is endless.

I had a dream once where I ran around in the back yard behind the house i grew up in and collected all werid looking kinds of mushrooms..... Now I regret not gulping one down and seeing what would happen......

Bacially do you believe in your dreams or do you dismiss them as your subconsious just rambling off different thoughts as you sleep ....

Personally I think all the answers to everything are in our dreams...

I don't think I mentioned this to you yet, but the week after I smoked the 5-MeO-DMT I had a dream where I smoked it. And yes, it definitely worked quite well. I distinctly felt like I was in the same mindspace as when I actually smoked it. It was just as intense but it only lasted a few moments. This dream did not surprize me because it was a very traumatic experience and those tend to be relived in dreams. I think its very posible to feel the effects of drugs in dreams because if you experienced them while you were conscious it should be very easy to replicate while unconscious. However, I think you'd just get the general impression of a trip rather than something lasting hours. Time and space has little meaning in the dreamworld anyway, only impressions and feelings.

Sometimes I feel my dreams mean something, but most of the time they seem like subconscious rambling. But just because the meaning behind the rambling eludes me doesn't mean it has no meaning. Your subconscious knows a lot more than you give it credit for, so either way I like to play close attention to my dreams when I remember them.

I've had this happen after Salvia use as well. I've had dreams that were just as real and intense as the Salvia experience. Only happend once when i smoked 25 minutes before going to bed.

Very intense and very real.

What was salvia like for you?

I felt like i was a single cell of an organism that had just woken up to realize that all of reality was just a dream that was created to confuse me into not knowing that i was just sitting around being a single cell in some organism.....

It looked like it to cuz the whole room turned into a big foggy haze of electical energy. Then it all poured over to the right side of my view and it turned into just a string of cells a long the right side of my eye-line and from all the blackness that had been left in the rest of my eye site turned into more cells all around me.... Naturally I realized i didn't appreciate this thought i was having so i forced my self to sit up which you really don't like to do on salvia and I kinda forced myself to focus on what was real... . Watching the room sort of pour back into place was a really awesome thing to see...... up untill 5-MeO, salvia was the craziest shit i ever tried.....

I think it has a lot ot do with the fact that they come on so fast that sometimes you think about it just to quick instead of taking it easy....

In reply to:

Here's a perspective on dreams which I found to be interesting...

"Really it's just about the two opposing states of consciousness which dont really oppose at all. See, in the waking world the neural system inhibits the activation of the vividness of memories... and this makes evolutionary sense. It would be maladapted for the perceptual image of a predator to be mistaken for the memory of one and vice versa. If the memory of a predator conjured up a perceptual image, we'd be running off to the bathroom everytime we had a scary thought. So you have these seratonic neurons that inhibit hallucinations, that they themselves are inhibited during REM sleep. See this allows dreams to appear real, while preventing competition from other perceptual processes. This is why dreams are mistaken for reality. To the functioning system of neural activity that creates our world, there is no difference between dreaming a perception and an action, and actually the waking perception and action."

Couple of nights ago I dreamt that I was in Glastonbury (big music festival in the UK) and that I was trying to score some drugs. The people who I pitched my tent beside had everything. I remember I bought a bag of weed and 3 hits of LSD, but the LSD blotters were like big sort of ticket things that came out of this machine he had, and I had to tie them around my wrist. I never got round to tripping though. For some reason all my dreams are filled with urgency mixed with anxiety. I always feel that there is something I forgot to do and have to go back again. And my dreams are usually don't make enough sense for me to do what I want in them..like that LSD ticket machine. I remember another dream where I was trying to buy some acid in a movie theatre, except it was like an easter egg hunt, and the LSD was in like big bars of crumbly soap, or chalk or something.

Anyway, enough pointless anecdotes.....I have tripped in dreams before, and it was exactly like tripping in real life, and I woke up with a sense of Awe and Wonder. 'Nuff said.

By this time my secret is out......I posted my occupation which is an Adolescent Addictions Counselor......
Dreaming about using any substance is called in my field: a "drug dream"......It indicate a serious addiction to the drug that can last a life time.....

Me, I'm a hopeless, addict......the day before yesterday I had a "drug dream" about smoking weed. It was very real. I could feel the joint, smell the weed, taste it, I even coughed when I tried to hold in the smoke the first time....I got soooo high.....and I haven't smoked weed in reality for around 20 years......

As far as dreams "meaning something" I do believe that they do..... I think they are partly from the unconscious mind and that if you read the symbols correctly (like a puzzle) you can discern certain things in your life.....

Just the other day, I was reading this thread thinking, this is something I have never had, a dream like that. But last night I dreamt that I was at the beach, surfing the waves on my feet, and then these people showed up and started passing around a big bag of shrooms. I ate like 7,8 caps, and then woke up. So i guess I missed the best part.

Hey tannis are you studying us or something?....about the dreams, i've had quite a few dreams where i was tripping, most do have a sense of urgency and anxiety, its definetly a very real feeling though, its totally not unusual because it kind of relates to wet dreams (don't lie everyones had one) you actually can feel the euphoria and sensations that go along with having sex, its very strange, something inside your head is actually triggering this effect that is so vivid and real to you that you can't distinguish it from reality. absolutely amazing, i would think that there is someone out there that somehow has mastered this line between the dream world and reality, i can sense it in myself in small doses while hanging out with friends that are tripping, you almost feel that you are tripping yourself but the thing is you know you aren't so your brain only lets you go so far, i have never had lucid dreams before, but i usually do what i want to in my dreams, like when i was at the beach in my dream i surfed some awesome waves then i remembered having a beer and watching someone fight, it was almost exact reality but with a twist of hallucination, i have this hemp string that has a bunch of memorable items attached to it (a shell from costa rica, a quartz rock given to me at a show, a shell from my beach, and a sandsmoothed barnacle) and for some reason i have an attachment to it, i put it on one side of my bed to act as a dream catcher and i noticed almost every night i was having extremely abstact dreams that i didn't enjoy, so i moved it to the opposite side and i have recently been having wonderful dreams where you wake up smiling and feeling euphoric, if you try not to limit yourself to reality these kind of things become more commonplace, the human mind is absolutely nuts

how can u agree to that every dream that involves drugs is a sighn of addiction?!
if the drug has a part in your life it dosnt mean you in a state of psychological addiction to the substance .
i bet most of the poelpe havng this kinda dream dont spend their lifes by craving for a hit, although alot DO.
personally this diffenition sounds to me like an invention of birocracy and the approach of many social workers looking more at outside sighns that a person has and ignoring the imoprtance of the person's inside world and meanings.
ofcourse they do so only to be aefficiant and help alot of people, but every things has its pluses and minuses.

a growin original

Anyone who anylyzes drug induced dreams, without using drugs is a charlaton. My personal beliefs is that everybody has an innate nature of being psychic. During being awake, and asleep. Have you ever had a vision while being awake, a hunch , and it turns out true. But where did the hunch come from. From somebody else's thought. So I believe that if you dream, you are in a different psychic state. A medititave state. So you can see further. My only thoughts on this dream, is that some one like me did do this. But in my dream I did'nt have a surfboard, because I really don't, I don't surf. So my subconscious left this out of the dream. And finally, some dude got really fucked up last night, so fucked up, that are subconscious link was shattered, completey. to leave me awake. This is the first dream I have had in a almost a year. Last year I had a dream that dreams will cross over, end, I don't know the method, but I suspect is because my spritual group that I constantly in a meditative psychic state, does not have much on their mind. I don't know what broke my concentration, or lack of. If you have any theories on dreams then share them.

i would think that there is someone out there that somehow has mastered this line between the dream world and reality

That's an awesome concept, I would love to be able to jump back and forth between the two worlds at will. If the dream world is the subconscious and the real world is the conscious, then balancing the line between them would be to realize all aspects of yourself. I think that's something that should be worked towards.

Dude, I'm not studying you.....relax....you're not part of my "experiment" or anything......(smile)

Along the lines of what you were saying though, I have had different surgeries in my life and can to some extent---"remember" what the numbness feels like and can control pain......
Just seeing someone on TV light up a joint or bowl and I can start to smell it too......

Like I said, "In my field" this is called a serious sign of addiction......
I think when it is as vivid and realistic even after 20 years like mine was then that's a serious indication of a potential problem with the substance.
Keep in mind that I'm commenting only about myself and not saying this about anyone else.......although, I tell my patients that if it were not for the negative consequences I would take drugs daily until I most probably died.....

That's a pretty cool post......and me personally, I find that my drug use has really helped me deal with my patients. And what you have to understand is that I don't tell my patients that I recently experimented with shrooms or that I drink alcohol (which is common among counselors)....I just present the program that they need to hear.....and understand that alot of the kids and adults I work with are repeat offenders and many are just down right suicidal with drugs. For them it is either stop or die. Not everyone fits that profile........

I've noticed this "altered state of consciousness" and exist kind of right on the edge of it most of the time. Its kind of like being on "stand-by" and then clicking on when some signal is received. I see and "sense" things all the time from "other realms" and I (being empathic) pick up on the feelings of those around me.
Once I was in a training and started to feel like I was going to be sick or pass out.....the feelings seemed strange and foreign to me.....they kept getting worse until the guy sitting next to me announced he was ill and they helped him out of the room.......my "sick" feeling left immediately!

There is no causal link between your feeling and the guy getting sick. You only put together this (non) association after the fact.
