You wrote -------Like I said, "In my field" this is called a serious sign of addiction...... I think when it is as vivid and realistic even after 20 years like mine was then that's a serious indication of a potential problem with the substance.
--Don't read this like a might be angry, cuz I'm not I just think this comment has to bases in fact or truth, but How could anyone make this kind of generalization? It?s a goddamn dream!!
What if I have a vivid dream about an ice cream cone I had when I was ten??
How is that different from smoking a joint in a dream? --- I mean honestly step out of yourself for a second and think about calling something in a dream a sign of addiction.
How about all those sex dreams people have?
The information you ascertain from a dream is completely arbitrary and relative to the person who had the dream, because it is their dream a not a textbook example.
NO one understands what dreams are except for the fact that we all have them at one time or another?

I've had a couple dream where I ate shr00ms and things got funny (ie distorted vision).... In one of them, it even turned lucid. I've had maybe 3 or 4 lucid dreams in my life, and they are freaking amazing. It's like a second reality. Way better than any trip I've had... too bad it takes so long to get good at enducing them.

Good point....dreams may be entirely arbitrary. I think you make a good point saying that it is a generalized statement....it is........ It is designed to flag a person as possiblly having a more serious problem. So what you're saying is true and I agree with you. What I'm saying is that if after 20yrs I can still get high in a dream....for me....this indicates a pretty strong relationship with the substance....that could be a red flag that I might have to be careful.....maybe more careful than others....its not something everyone has to agree with but it is how "the system" I work in evaluates people.
I also like your style in the way you present your view.

I've had several dreams about using drugs. I've drempt about eating pills and smoking weed, even smoking crack once. One dream I remember, I didnt eat a pill, but I started rolling - until I fell down and bonked my head on a box - and got carted away on an ambulence. The dream when I was smoking crack, I was at work smoking crack, and nothing was happening. I felt a little body buzz and that was all (although I never smoked crack before). Same with weed - several dreams when I was smoking weed, I would smoke... and smoke... and smoke and smoke and smoke smoke smoke... but nothing would happen to me. I wouldnt get high.
When I was young (X - 13) I had lucid dreams. Dreams I could control. I could fly, or make whatever I wanted to happen do so. I could manipulate the dream world in any way I wanted. Suddenly, I couldnt anymore. Anyone have any sugestions as to why? Now though, instead of being able to manipulate my dreams all the time (I can sometimes still), I have very bizarre abstract dreams that I enjoy almost as much as lucid dreaming.
