I told an old lady that I was mushroom hunting once, after she'd asked what I was doing.

She smiled and said, "I'm so glad there are some kiddos like you who don't go around in the gangs."

She was tickled pink. I coulda took her home with me if I had tried.

Most people don't mind mushroom hunters, to be quite honest.

I also asked a guy in his 40's if I and a friend of mine could hunt for mushrooms under his Hazelnut trees, and he said, "Yes. Are they the good kind?" I replied, "Of course." He then laughed and said just stay around this area and don't go poking around the other parts of my property.

I have never had a bad confrontation with anyone, while mushrooms hunting.

I strictly hold to one rule: Do not trespass onto peoples' property without thier permission. Always ask, and they will alomost always give you permission. If not, you don't have to worry about them calling the cops or anything, cause you have done nothing wrong. Asking is not a crime.

Take care.

I agree 100% and I've seen the same thing....Most people that own property have nothing against mushroom pickers one way or another..hey understand that species grows on their proerty that they may have no interest in. For example, last year in the oakland hills I came across a huge hypholoma woodchip patch right alongside skyline blvd,(same habitat as cyans) and while I was looking around and taking photos, a kindly old lady about 80 years old came out, walking her dog.

I asked her first "does she know what all these mushrooms are?" "no, but there is a guy from a very famous high class San Francisco restaurant (I know wich one) that comes up here every year to pick on my property"

Oh yeah"? I said?..."Oh yeah" she said......"he prepares outragious dinners for me after he picks here, so I can't compain"

SIC, spelling in correction...This is true..Alot of the very high price restaraunts here in San Francisco, berkeley, napa, don't deal with commercial growers and pickers at all...they either do it themselves, or know people who can do it the very same day...back door, no questions asked...They know what the mushrooms look like, because they do it themselves.......and they know what fresh that day looks like too...hehe

I'm still working up to the point where I can ask a farmer to hunt on his property.  Some day I'll be confident enough. I've only been doing this about 2 years so far.  I'm still a damn noob...

Umm... I have asked a guy who owned cattle if I could hunt on his property, as well as the manager of an Equestrian center, with stables, and riding rings and looootsa property with looootsa poop.  They were both friendly as could be.  And uh, I'm new too.  Grow some balls and go ask!

But most people don't consider the Pacific Northwest to start any further south than Eureka, California. That's where the liberty caps start. Liberty caps are a true PNW shroom while cyanescens extends further south. That's because liberties really grow in temperate rainforest type areas with cow fields, usually twice as much rain as occurs in SF. I used to live in Crescent City, CA many years ago, and it poured buckets in the winter..Forget about an umbrella, it won't do no good, but that's up by the oregon Border.*auweia*

I haven't found any liberty caps here yet, but then again, I only looked a couple of times...

I just want to apologize to every body who read that childish and impatient statement. I realize I can't just expect any question i ask to be answered promptly or even at all. I under stand it seems like i don't appreciate all the vast wealth of knowledge on this site and from it's fellow members and my only excuse is I can't smoke any weed but excuses are a dime a dozen. Once again i sincerely apologize to anyone I've offended.

its called the bay area but it is full of gays so people call it the gay area.
We scored, we scored big!! It is still a tad early for cyans, all of my cyan patches were just pinning. The stunzis and azures were not showing either but the friscosas are in full affect. They are also taking over. One of my cyan patches was covered in friscosas.

I found some cyans that were old and black, they must have come up with the rain we had a few weeks back. There were hundreds of pins around them though.

A lot of the fibs were cracked and over ripe also, so they hhave been up since the first rain also.

I am going to get some dinner then I will post a dozen pics when i get back.

So today was good
Rememebr the patch that is a half hour from sacramento that i found late last year that produced these?

The same patch left me 1 tiny mushroom so that i could get a positive id

Well this same patch was in full pin. I cant wait till next week

So then we drove into the bay area to check on another known cyan patch. It was full of mature fibs-friscosas

There are a lot here. Look for them

Here is my pride and joy cyan patch. We are still a little early for mature cyans

Then we saw these. They must have come up with the rains we had a few weeks back. A couple of rotten scouts

And since i know you guys like these dated pictures
Some of what we found
