Ok, so all the military voted for Bush because he raised their salaries, but there a couple statistics that are very wrong here.

A military get's paid about 24,000 a year, which most people assume is minimum wage. But in fact this 4 times minimum wage!

An average lower class citizen makes about 7,000 dollars a year, so why do we pay the military so much!

Why does the irs classify minimum wage as above 10,000?

There are some serious problems with are governments' classification of minimum wage.

Also bonuses and so on, range from 2000, to more then 10,000. This is an absolute waste of taxpayers money. Bush was said to be expecting recession, and then he wastes all of the government's money!

not to mention they don't pay 'retail' tax at their 'military only' stores. all those $.04 on each dollar add up. they also don't pay tax at the gas station, so their gas is cheaper than everyone elses.

Minimum wage is $5.25 an hour which if you use an average week of 40 hours per week comes out to $10,920 just under twice what they make. Also the military never works just 40 hours a week so they are getting paid even less. When they go out into the field (like i did quite often) they work about 2 weeks strait.

Wrong....see minimum wage @ 5.25 at full time...if they are part time then too bad..In addition the military can get killed and it's part of the job..a burger flipper can't say the same.

The only problem is that you're assuming that they are still getting paid $3.35 an hour which was the case around 1986

the military isn't paid enough if you ask me. They are doing what people like you either CAN'T or WON'T do.

They are hired mercenaries, none of them join to be a honored protectorate or so on, they join for the money. Of course I am not going to go to war for the business leaders of our country, and I definitely don't want to pay someone 4 times my salary to do so!

Also, most people gettting paid by wage, never receive full time hours, duh!
That's why smart college people get the salaried positions.

Yes, Bush did raise their salaries, and yes I know military, they have plenty of money to throw around on heroin, and alwasy brag about how easy their job is and so on. About how they got their new Honda Cbr, with their military bonuses. They all have new cars, good apartments, and houses, and are financially stable, they get credit cards, and help from the military loan offices, they basically get their own private loans through the military!

Also the government classified the cut off for taxes at 10,000 something, so if you made more then this the government took all your net profit for the year, for taxes, leaving you with no saved income, still working for corporate america.

So assuming our economy sucks, and noone is actually getting their full time hours , then our government should reclassifly lower class.

Are you playing at being stupid or are you really this dumb? My brother is a Green Beret Reservist. Do you think he went on active duty in Haiti so he could go into bankruptcy and lose his home? Now he's called up again and he's working 30 hours straight without sleep, then get's 10 hours before his next 30. All so he can help to track down people who would want to kill numb nuts like you!

How can you be paying someone else four times your salary, didn't you state in another post that you were on the government dole (getting food stamps)?

If the military is such a great job why don't you do it instead of whining about how they make more than you?

You make no sense and i'm beginning to feel sorry for you. I served for 8 years and never bragged about how easy my job is and never seen heroin. As for the rest of your statement, it seems you're the one that's on heroin because it makes no sense....so you're wrong again.

Who is he tracking down again, just killing Haitian militants for his superiers I guess. Haita really needs U.S. occupancy does'nt it. I woul'nt want to live there, I have a friend who immigrated to America from Haiti, because it was alwasy a war on the island, between Haitians and Americans. I guess they need to adopt a policy there for peace. Most people fight over concepts like "Darwinism" food, shelter, money for food and shelter, I'm sure Haiti has enough farmland to support itself, so If u.s. interests weren't regulating the land in a capitilist way, then the Darwinism would succede.

I paid a shitload of taxes this year. I paid 600 in regular taxes. And 2000 to the governments' non askance of a government loan, Social Security and Medicare. Basically trash, It's like paying my dog to stock broke for me, then complaining when he comes back with a 1/4 of the money or less.

If the government issued me my rightful land, then I would'nt need food stamps, I am a good worker, noone has ever complained of my work, only took advantage of me. I am also a good farmer.

Military is'nt a good job. What do they do anyways? They just patrol all day, and set up little posts and so on. Really good. I won't ever join the military. I don't believe in war, or killing, so How could I bring myself to join the military, or adopt a philosphophy that paying someone to do this is alright?

24,000 is a shitload of money. That is more then 4 times my pay, and not to mention how much that is worth in a U.s. sweat shop nation.

I was born in America, my family is descended from indians and Celitic Europeans. My family first immigrated to America after the persecution from Catholics, and the Royal Families surrounding Bush, who killed my peoples, and stole their land.

My other part of my family was persecuted if you remember your history.

I want to find a better country to live in. It's just that the U.s and their people want to conquer every country, so how can I help by leaving these people?

I did'nt immigrate to America, but If I lived in another country I would, because America has the most available farm land to citizen, which means a better living, right?

If I said he raised their salaries before being elected it was purely mistake, I do remember his platform, of tax cuts and so on, basically promising the people a better living, more money. I don't know if his platform was a military raise, but military spending he did promise. I do remember when he raised the military salaries also, so my writing may be off, but my memory is on.

I have had plenty of friends join the military. I don't yadda yadda yadda, I share my experiences. Some went into selling heroin, and meth, and others' went into buying cool toys and wives and so on. Stuff that successful single men do. Get loans for houses, cars, get marrried, stuff that a successful bachelor does.

I have done heroin, 4 seperate times in my life, 4 different kinds, and never continued to repeat the experiences. If i sound that burndt that maybe, but I am not an addict or habitual user, my experiences I did because I was curious about the lifestyle and business that was being run in my town.

So they shouldn't be able to support their families and live a decent life? I guess that applies to cops and paramedics, too. What a bunch of greedy bastards.

When I go on duty (I am a reservist now) I take a huge pay cut. This is true for almost everyone in my unit. If I was doing it for the money, I'd be better off delivering pizzas. Pizza deliverers don't have to leave their families behind for months at a time while risking their ass, either.

When I was in the regular navy I made $15k tops, and I put in 80-100 hour weeks on a regular basis in a field that would have made me $20 an hour on the outside.

Be grateful that there are those willing to protect even ignorant mudslingers such as yourself.

I will restate, "My brother is a Green Beret Reservist." The army is not his regular job, he does it because he is a patriot and believes in defending his fellow citizens and his country. It's that simple.

Klinton called him up to go to Haiti, over a year without his normal pay, not enough money to make his house payments or his other bills and feed his family. He went bankrupt. I agree that the Haitians should be taking care of themselves, but comrade Klinton didn't think so. When he came home, he had to be hospitalized because the army had given him too much anti-malaria medicine and he started to suffer from hemorraging. While there, his unit was ordered to put the American flag beneath the U.N. and the Haitian flags, although Americans were the ones helping out and paying for everything.

You don't understand, he was called up again after 9/11. This time for 2 years. He is currently working 30 hours on and 10 hours off. At the rate of pay he is getting, he's probably getting less than minimum wage if you take into account that a civilian gets paid 1 1/2 times for anything over 8 hours and he's working 126 hours a week.

So if you belive they should have a decent life, then why don't we just agree that everyone should have a decent life. Even the starving africans! So if that means that the military can't live like american lower class (extreme amt. of foreign money) then so be it. I have never seen that amount of money. Cops and paramedics too, anybody could do these jobs, even starving africans.

Delivering pizza's for who? Most pizza delivery guys work part time. I don't know really though, I have only worked for 4 different pizza companies. But they all probraly disliked me, and it was just really bad odds. Also working just one of those would add up to less then 7,000 a year. I could work both and maybe see 10,000.

15,000 dollars! What did you buy with all that money? Just curious, what did you get a car, a house? Hey if you look at your job hourly, then you know you got alot of hours at a good rate. I alwasy want more hours at my jobs. So you were just getting what regular people like myself want.

I am very happy that you protected me as long as you have, can I send a donation to your early retirement from your perilous life as a navy man. Seriously, we should all pitch in and give you an early retirement. So you chose the navy, because you wanted to be paid less, and be in the navy. That is great. That is patriotism. If we only had more people like you, then are world's probelms would be solved.

So does a green beret reservist mean he is on call for anyone who hires mercenaries. You know like Rambo. That is what I think when I think Green Beret. A good dependable killer.

So they put the american flag below the Haitians, I feel like crying seriously. Even the u.n. too!

A civilian who works in the "real world america" gets those deals. Remember America is like the richest kingdom in the world, we can afford those deals.
If we were any place else, they would work him at pennies an hour, 14 hours a day, and then rip him off the paycheck, and leave him for broke.

Just as a note, I work 8,9 hours a day, some days skipping lunch, and get paid no overtime for weekends, and my usuall paycheck is around 600 a month. You forget that charity work, and under the table work does not have rules.
