But sometimes things are more complicated than that, you have to admit.

Are they? Do I?

Do people not make a HUGE deal out of losing weight? (Untold number of books, pills, plans, videos, etc.) What could be simpler than NOT DOING? Seems to be more "fun" to the ego to make things difficult.

yeah, they often do, but that isn't a reply to my assertion that sometimes things are more complicated. It's always more complicated than "Just eat less" for the person in question, even if only slightly. What if they have a glandular disorder? What if they had a really fucked-up mom who instated some weird complex regarding food for them? I mean, obese people have to eat a lot in order to maintain their obesity, but that doesn't mean it's a cut-and-dried choice they've made. (Obesity: it's not just for fat people.)

Are they? Do I?

Are they? well, I gave an example of when I think they are, which you didn't address. Do you? nah, don't bother.

That sounds like what I read in a Castaneda book...Don Juan said something about a path with heart being easy and free from suffering...maybe you read it.

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

What if they have a glandular disorder?
So 100 years ago hardly anyone had a glandular disorder and now 60% of Americans do? Sorry, but even people with a "glandular disorder" (whatever that is) are STILL subject to the laws of physics. One MUST eat more than they expend to gain weight and yes - it is that simple.

yeah, they often do, but that isn't a reply to my assertion that sometimes things are more complicated.
As you give no example, I will reiterate that things are that simple. Borrowing an old saying, if you can change things then do it; if not then accept it. Where is the HUGE and COMPLEX problem?

What if they had a really fucked-up mom who instated some weird complex regarding food for them?
Awareness of damaging programming is the solution. This goes back to self-examination.
